I see how you can add to the rep power and report other stuff.

Suggestion: Will we have access to view other's comments or who left "rep" info on us?? Just an idea.
I hope this is successful and eliminates a lot of the childish behavior around here.

Could there be friendly "competition" on the horizon?

I agree with AppleZ... maybe this will be a postive incentive!

Cool

Gee David, you've certainly sparked up a lot of curiosity!
I think I grasp the basic understanding - We will see though;
Regardless of my current 1 reputation, I think it sounds good.

This should go on "things not to do right before you leave town"..

We've had the ability to allow "reputation points" for some time but decided against it for a variety of reasons... Including of course, foul play, friend boosting, and more...

To be honest, I don't know what constitutes Rep Points at the moment. One would think that the number of posts would count toward overall reputation but that either is not the case, or because I just turned it on, it doesn't affect things..

Keep in mind this may not be here in a few days... We're still looking into it.. I'm not all that big on any points system for members so that is a "point" against it from the start, but there may be other merits I have yet to consider.

Have fun with it for now.

I personally think this can cause problems down the line, I don't see why anyone here needs to compete and this can cause that to happen IMO. This can cause people to "dissaprove" based on liking or not liking someone, and it seems unfair. I don't see how this can help the board...this is just my opinion.

I belong to another site that is set up the exact same way as this on is. We had the rep thing going on for awhile as a test.

It was crazy. You could leave good rep points or bad rep points and you wouldn't know who they were from so it got wayyyyyyyyyyy out of hand.

People were leaving bad rep points and leaving VERY nasty messages to other people. It was not pretty.

I am not fond of the idea of points or someone not liking you
so they click a button~~~but who am I to say? I only have
1 rep button. I stick around PTO for the support~we try
to help eachother~and I admittedly am not the smartest
cookie in the jar! If it comes to a popularity contest~sigh~
I guess I will just become a silent ghost member. Think I
would need an instruction manual to figure it out anyways!

JenG, I can see what you mean. When I first posted on this thread a while back, I was only thinking of everything in theory. However when put into practice this could quite easily cause a lot of problems. Because as 2Lovebirds has said, PTO is a support site - Not a popularity contest. The whole reputation thing is making me somewhat skeptical now. But then again, who am I to comment?

What ever the Rep power means or doesn't mean I hope it doesn't interfer with the support that each of us gets from one another. I go to PT daily for info and support. It has been a very good source for me and is what helps me get throw some of the most difficult days. Thanks to all of you for sharing and giving support it's very appreciated!! lol

Here's my 2 cents . . . The question I always ask about any aspect of technology, even if it's only a CD-ROM program for first graders, is "what is the value added?" I guess I'm missing the point of how these "rep powers" are going to improve or add value to PTO because I think it's already pretty darn good. Of course, there may be quite a few things I don't understand about this, so I guess I'll just sit back and give it a try if PTO decides to run it up the flag pole. Stay cool everyone, SunnyChick
