My drive is 4 hours there and 5 hours back. So by the time you stop for a drink and potty on the way, get there and get checked in, wait for him to come out, have your 2 hour visit, get back out of there, stop for gas and grab a bite to eat, it takes about 12 hours. We usually leave about 7 am and get home about 7 pm. We were making the trip every weekend (for the last two years) but our daughter is having some serious health problems right now so we have lots of doctor bills so we've had to cut it down to every other week. We sure miss him those weekends we don't get to go.

I'm very, very lucky that it only takes me 15 minutes to get to where my boyfriend is at...a 30 minute roundtrip at that!

I drive 7 1/2 hours one way, stay the weekend, visit for 3 hours each day, then drive 7 1/2 hours back home. I go over about every other month. I wish I could go more often!

My drive is 10 hours one way....I have been flying lately...which is an hour to the airport..then a two hour wait...then a hour flight...then 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive to the prison...I rent a place where he stays...I found its cheaper then paying the hotel money all the time...love will make his do whatever it takes...

WOW! I drive 5 hours to Walla Walla from Tacoma, and I thought I had it bad. Next time I feel like complaining, I'll think of you!

i usually go on a friday, or another weekday. i leave early in the morning, it takes about 3 1/2 hours to get there.

but by the time i come back it's rush hour and it takes almost 5 hours in the traffic. it's rediculous.

My drive is 2 hours there and 2 1/2 hours back!! I know it could be ALOT worse...so I can't complain. I leave at 10 in the morning...get there for a 90 min visit...and get back by 5:30-6 (depending on the traffic). I go every weekend...220 mile round trip every weekend....I am gonna need a new car Hugs

When I WAS allowed and when I AM allowed again, it is a 2 1/2 hour drive there. I leave my house at 6:30am to get there by 9am and stay until 3pm. Visits are only on Sundays. I used to go every other week and had him all to myself all day! (ok well, besides the other visitors and inmates all around us!) On the weekends that I didn't go, the rest of his family all went on those days. *sigh* I miss seeing him so much! But I am allowed to again on July 2 and the first visiting day after that is July 3!!! Woo Hoo!!!

my hubby will be 1000 miles away. If I drove, it would be close to 15 hours. I would LOVE to have him 5 hours away!

I drive 4 1/2 hours one way, it's 618 miles round trip! It is very draining, I must see him though! That's my heart and that is worth all the expense and driving

The drive one way is 1 hour and 20 minutes. I'm not sure of the miles. I think it's around 80 or 90 miles away!

I drive 1 hour each way every Sunday on the late visit. Its' so much more relaxed...not hardly anybody there. All the visitors seem to be there on Sat...and that visitation room is small and so packed you can hardly hear yourself talk. So we like the slower calmer pace of Sunday visits. The guards seem to be more relaxed and laid back at that time too. Not so uptight. I used to be 2 blocks from where he was and walk over every Sat. and Sun regardless of the weather. But an hour isn't bad at all! We are blessed to be so close. God Bless you all and give you traveling mercies on your journeys to see your loved ones!

Cool How far do you drive to visit?

Hello everyone! I drive 4hrs to visit my husband. He is in FCI Victorville and I use to go visit him at least twice a month. I also get a motel room for 4 days, drive up in a rental, money for "visiting" room food, etc.... It really adds up.

If I drove straight there it'd be about 3 hours, but since my parents live about an hour from where he is, I crash at their place and then leave from there in the morning and do it all again for Sunday too!

Yay I get to see him for two days!!

Well when I'm at my parents it's about an 1 hr and 15 minute drive but when I'm at school it is an 1 hr and 45 minute drive. I can't really complain about it being far. I enjoy the drive.
