Default Supreme Court Ruling

Published on: Thursday, February 28, 2019
On Wednesday the United States Supreme Court vacated the judgment of an Alabama trial court that had rejected death-row-prisoner Vernon Madison’s claim that he was incompetent to be executed. See Madison v. Alabama, 17-7505 (Feb. 27, 2019) (link is external). Justice Kagan wrote the 5-3 opinion. Justice Alito dissented, joined by Justices Thomas and Gorsuch. Justice Kavanaugh took no part in the decision.

This is slightly off topic... but I’ve done a lot of reading of cases through the Supreme Court as my man is currently up for resentencing due to being a juvenile at the time of his crime. Every ruling I have read, Justice Samuel Alito has dissented in every single one of them. My googling just now has found that he’s considered to be one of the most conservative judges of the court so I guess that makes sense. Sorry I guess I’m just thinking out loud haha, I just found it interesting.
