Default Article: Supreme Court Orders Judge Off Criminal Cases

Associated Press

The state Supreme Court has ordered District Judge Hunter Patrick in Cody to remove himself completely from six criminal cases and reassign the cases to another judge.

The justices acted upon an unusual request from Park County Attorney Bryan Skoric to force Patrick to reassign the cases.

The dispute centered on the state's criminal procedures. Skoric asked the judge to remove himself from the criminal cases, but Patrick only assigned the request for removal to another judge.

The Supreme Court says the entire cases must be reassigned.

Patrick was appointed to the judgeship in 1988 by former Governor Mike Sullivan.
