Default Agg Murder, stalking, threats and fake apologies: Chance of making parole?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post...I'm trying to figure that out while trying to figure another out. My ex was sent to prison for aggravated murder. His parole eligibility date and hearing are coming up in a couple of months. Prior to his conviction, he had been in trouble for things that escalated over time. Everything from driving without a license to drug use to domestic assault and battery. I was one of his punching bags until I left him and in which case he spent months stalking me before he murdered the next person. There was always an excuse and a blame put on everyone else. He has attempted to make contact with me several times, including threats and fake apologies. I've since moved a few times and will not be moving again. I was on a character witness list....of that's the correct term....and he made it clear that he will find me when he gets out. I know that people can change but I dont believe he has. It truly is a safety issue if he gets out. I realize I'm just one person in a world of millions but I want to matter enough this one time. I realize too that there are a lot of people who have loved ones in prison and are needing support and positive thoughts that they get out and I commend you for that. Everyone needs that support. I dont have ill feelings toward my ex, but I am scared of his capabilities once he is out. I didnt intend for this to be so wordy. From experience or knowledge, what are the chances he will not be paroled. His official charge was aggravated murder.

What a harrowing experience you went through and I can imagine you are scared. Is there an opportunity that you can bring his threatening letters/cards/etc to the attention of the parole board? Anything that happened during his incarceration should count against his chances on parole. How long has he been in?

Welcome to Prison Talk. I agree, be sure to make the Parole Board aware of his threats against you while he was in prison. He has proven how dangerous he is. You may get assistance from the victim services folks in your State too.

I am sorry to hear of your traumatic experience. As other have said please make the parole board aware of the threats he has made to you. You deserve to be safe and protected.

If your state Department of Corrections or even prosecutors office has a crime victim liaison, get them involved as well. If available, they can assist with navigating the system.
