Mtc is privately owned, contracted by the state

Default MTC facilities

Thank you for answering. Are the MTC facilities typically better than regular Texas Prisons? How does one get assigned to an MTC facility?

Thank you for the information. How is the food? Do they live 2 per cell or have dormitories?

Depends on which facility one is assigned. MTC over sees more than one prison in Texas. Most places are dorm style that house around 60 people per dorm/tank/room. No the food is not better on average compared to TDCJ. MTC over sees the East Texas Treatment Facility. That was my exposure to them during a SAFPT stay.

I was at Hamilton .It is MTC and was air-conditioned. There the rules were strictly enforced. I would say it is better. Less fighting because most everyone is in a program and trying to make parole. Also, I saw no hootch or drugs at Hamilton. At Hutchins I saw people smoking K2 in the bunk area everyday.

Default MTC prisons

Does anyone know if the private Texas prisons: "MTC" provide less for the inmates since they are operating for profit?

The food is a bit skimpier. Some of their facilities are air conditioned which is a plus from now til October. Everything else is either different yet the same or no difference at all.

Do they send the inmates to these private prisons for pre -release without seeing parole yet?? My husband is in review, and just got sent to Huntsville to wait until Tuesday to be sent to one of the private units

I'm reluctant to answer that. Common sense says no. They don't send you anywhere to do with parole related criteria if parole has not given the go ahead for that to happen. Still, stranger things have happened. Maybe he has to complete something before he makes parole. I don't know. There's alot of variables. Someone more knowledgeable about it hopefully will come along. I'll always be around to help if can't get any answers. Be patient.

They do send them to pre-release before being reviewed by the board. I have a friend who’s husband was sent before the vote. It got her hopes up, but he ended up still being denied.
