Default Released Early From Federal Supervision

Hi all, I do not post here much but have been lurking for a while.

I wanted to share my success story with being released early from supervision.

I was originally sentenced to 36 months in federal prison and 10 years supervised release for poss. of child pornography. I wont go into details how I ended up with this charge, but it happened a long time ago and took them nearly 5 years to indict me.

After serving roughly 20 months of my prison term, I was sent to a halfway house for an additional 9 months. Within 1 month of being in the halfway house, I already secured a good job, which I am still working at today.

After being released from the halfway house, I met someone who would eventually become my fiance. She's been massively supportive of everything, despite the baggage she picked up along the way.

Fast forward to this year. I had long completed my sex offender counseling, and had zero flags on my record during supervision. Despite the best efforts of various poligraphers to trip me up, I stayed fast and passed every one. (NEVER ADMIT TO ANYTHING!)

I broached the topic of early termination with my PO, and he encouraged me that I should follow through with it. I had his support.

I contacted an attorney that specializes in filing the motion for early termination. I was told you could do it yourself, but honestly, I felt better paying someone else to do it. It cost me roughly $500. After going back and forth a bit on the draft, we decided it was good, and sent it off to the court.

I waited around 6 weeks, checking pacer nearly every day, for the response to come in. The AUSA had some decent things to say, and really no objection to my early termination. The judge ultimately agreed, and terminated it effective immediate. My PO congratulated me, and told me to stay out of trouble. He said he hopes the next time he see's me will be at the grocery store or something, where he would gladly shake my hand.

I served roughly 4.5 years of my 10 year sentence of supervised release. This past 2 months since being released from supervision have felt like a massive weight lifted off my shoulders.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience here. If anyone has any questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

fmrinmate0205, what about the registry? You still have to register, right?

Sadly yes, but I'm the lowest tier, so it's only once a year I need to check in.

Working on ways to get off that as well, but that's a much larger hurdle.

Yes, it is (a much larger hurdle). I hope you're successful at getting off the registry, sending many well-wishes for that
