Hi and welcome to PTO. If you want to know exactly what your son will be allowed then a good idea is to check the forum for the state your son is in. Most prisons have a drug programmes so hopefully your son will be able to recieve the help he needs
Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate.

Honestly the best way you can help your son is to help yourself. Get to some alanon or naranon meetings and quite enabling your son. He's liucky to be alive and in jail rather than dead from an over dose. Don't overreact to him being sent to jail. I would refuse to have much contact with him or send money until he decides he wants recovery and is attending 12 step meetings. Addiction is a family problem and it makes it a lot harder for members to recover from their addictions if the other family members don't get a grip on their emotions and start acting rationally. Your son is not a little boy anymore. Let him deal with this on his own. It is the only way for him to develop the confidence and strength he needs to get better and move onto a healthier way of life. Don't pity a drug addict, it ruins their self-esteem. Be angry enough to initiate positive changes in your own life. This will help them the most.
take care.
