Default Sentencing:Convictions older than 10 years shouldn't be taken into account?

My husband was told by a lawyer who is incarcerated with him that convictions older than 10 years should not be taken into account at sentencing. Is this right? He is in Kansas btw.

Here's a link to the Kansas sentencing guidelines and PSI preparation rules. The crimes, and when they occurred, that can be used to increase the guideline range should be in there.
