Default Illegal slavery of first offenders act.

Is it unconstitutional to send a Ga first offender who has never violated the terms straight to chain-gang privitised detail slave camps? The 13th amendment clearly says "for only duly convicted felons there will be slavery". If a person takes the first offender act then it is not a conviction or they are not a felon unless terms are violated. How do you help people with this situation? and is it allowed?

This is a question better suited to the "Legal" forum, so I'll move it there for you.

What is the official name of the insitution that provdes the service? What is the name of the camp? What is the official description that the camp professes to provide?

Please provide specifics - camp name/location. "Chain gangs" were eliminated in Georgia decades ago so specifics are vital. I handle cases every day involving First Offender status several recent ones have involved time (90 days) at a State Boot Camp in lieu of years in prison.

If you're asking if people who plead First Offender can be sentenced to community service as a condition of their deferred sentence, the answer is yes...

The defendant certainly has the right to refuse First Offender status and become a convicted Felon.....if you are referring to community service it is a punishment for the crime and the First Offender Act is intended to provide a second chance as opposed to harming a life for one mistake.
