Default How do I calculate time? Do inmates have to serve 85% of their time?

I was wondering how I am supposed to calculate my LO's time in prison.

He was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on 4-13-15.
He also was awarded 193 days credit for time served (time spent awaiting trial).
He said that he was told his earliest release date is 10-4-17 with good time.

That being said, with good time he only has to serve 2.4 years. Then when I subtract 193 days or 6.3 months, it brings his release date to 1-13-17; which is 1 year and 9 months. Is this correct? I feel like this is too much time off and he won't get all of his gain time because I thought in Florida you have to serve 85% of your sentence?

Thank You!

He has to serve 85% regardless of anything no matter if he saved the warden from being snake bit he still has to serve 85%. That's Florida state law.
