Brevard county has a mail away form on their website http://www.brevardclerk.us

My hubby is housed at Polk Correctional in Fla and I have just received our approval to get married from Tallahassee. I understand the part about going to the clerk office mailing it to the Institution and it have to get notorized by the notary at the Instiution ...and they will mail it back to the clerk office in your county ...Now my question is do we have to have a ceramony because my paster is a school teacher and they only hold the ceremonies on Fri. and my pastor cant take off work??? Please help !!

There are several threads on what actually happens during a ceremony in the FL forums and the Prison Wedding forum. This thread is for where to obtain your marriage license. If you need help finding the threads, send me a message.

It is easier to have the marriage license maild to your signifcant other. They will allow him to see the notary and the notary will mail it back to you. You must then take it to the county clerks office where issued and you will sign your portion. There is a three day hold before the license is effective. You have 60 days from issue to get married. Yes you must have a ceramony. Most facilities allow the ceremony to take place on visitation days.

Just went through the process, I am in Texas, so going to the local county was not an option. I used Brevard County and started with an email, then the regular mail and followed directions and all was done and the marriage license is in my hands completed all within 14 days. Brevard was wonderful and very easy to use. On 11-12-11 We will be married! YAY!

Ive read through this thread several times and can't find an accurate answer but which county is easiest to get a marriage license in? One that approves those that don't live in the county, doesn't require both parties to be present in order to apply, and one that will accept DOC issued id.

Most say the county that allows you to apply by mail is very easy.

If it's not in the listing in this thread you can call the Clerk's office for that county and ask them. They will give you the procedures for their county, if they allow it. If they don't, you can just find a county that is close to Taylor and apply for your license there. It doesn't matter where you get your license in FL as long as you have one when you get married.

Let us know what you find/found out!

My fiance is at Santa Rosa CI Annex. The Chaplain there said that the Clerk Of Courts comes to the prison the first Monday of every month and that I just have to go to the prison on that day and we can both sign the marriage license right there and get married on that Thursday

I got mine in Bartow in Polk county

I will start by listing those that I am aware that do issue them, and anyone who knows of other counties please list so that I can edit them in. Thanks!

Default Volusia County Is a No Go!

Okay! So my fiancée and I are getting remarried Yeah! He is at Tomoka and we have started the process. Just found out that as of 2007 Volusia County no longer issues marriage license to incarcerated individuals. Just a heads Up! One monkey don't stop a show. We are moving forward. Getting the license in another county. BOOM!

I am going to do this SOON! as a matter a fact I am calling Taylor County tomorrow to see if they do or not. We was going to wait because he might have had a chance to come home alot sooner but again we got shot down so we are going to get married so he can transfer closer to home

Just got off the phone with Taylor County and they don't issue marriage licenses to inmates. She said they used to but that was 10 year ago :/

When you get your marriage license do you have to have a ceremony? My fiancé and I wanted to wait until he was out to have a ceremony. Is it required?

If you get approved to be married and you want to marry him during his incarceration then yes a ceremony is required. The marriage license is only valid for 60 from the date it is issued any longer after this and the license is invalid and you wouldnt be able to use it.

If you two are wanting to wait until he gets out I wouldnt recommend getting a marriage license until he is out and yall are ready to marry.

Hope this helps?!
