Default Probation period over but no discharge papers - can I still be violated?

My probation officer told me that my probation was over as of midnight last Thursday night. However, he called me today and told me to come pick my discharge papers up tomorrow morning. I assumed that when my probation period was up, I was simply off of probation.

My question is, when I go and pick up these discharge papers is he able to drug test me and or violate me then? Like I said, I believed my probation was already up because he told me that it was over midnight last Thursday, but now I have to come in to get papers.

Should I be worried? Does he have the jurisdiction to violate me AFTER my probation period is up? I have never been violated in the year I was on probation but I want to make sure that he didn't just trick me at the very end.

I hope someone knows the answer to this so I can know whether or not I need to detox. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Once you are off of probation, you are completely off, so other than expecting your PO to hand you your papers and to wish you well, you have nothing to worry about. The only things you can be violated for after your probation is finished are things that happened while you were still under supervision. Congratulations for getting through the entire nightmare.

This is a post that is more suited to the Probation and Parole forum, so I'll move it here for you.

In VA, you can still be violated for up to a year after you are off probation

Depends on how the Court Order was written. If it says "3 years probation 10 years good behavior", then your off probation after 3 years, but still have 7 years left of good behavior, and if you commit a new offense of any kind, traffic included, then you can have that good behavior violated, and its dealt with as a probation violation. If that good behavior clause is not on the Court Order, then the state has one year from date of probation termination to violate for something that happened only while under supervision.
