Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn about Nar-Anon. We hope that you find the information informative and helpful. Below are some frequently asked questions reguarding this fellowship.

What is Nar-Anon?

Nar-Anon are for the family members that are affected by another's addiction. It is a program adapted from the Narcotics Anonymous, and it uses the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts. Nar-Anon members share their experiences in weekly meetings. These meetings are beneficial to the affected person because it is solid proof that they are not alone in their emotions due to someone else's addiction. They are usually held at hospitals,churches, or even community centers.

Where Can I Find a Nar-Anon Group?

There are many meetings held within each state. Click here for a helpful guide to find one in your area. However, if there are no meetings in your area you are free to start your own. This is a quick overview on what it takes to start your own meeting.

How Do I Join a Nar-Anon Group?

Joining is truly simple. All you have to do is attend a meeting. I believe the hardest part is taking the initiative to choose to go. The only requirement is that you have to be affected in some how by someones addiction.

Does It Cost Anything?

There are no dues or fees for an Nar-Anon meeting. Each group is self supporting, and they accept donations. Donations go towards the group as a whole. It goes towards the purchase of supplies, or even rent.

Is there Literature Available?

A list of some literature associated with Nar-Anon can be found here. These publications are based upon member's experiences, and how they apply the principles of Nar-Anon to their everyday life.

Is Professional Help Available?

Nar-Anon is a non professional fellowships who offers support through communication. They share their experiences, wisdom, and emotions with other members in hopes of easing their current troubles. It is important to remember that an addict can only get help if they are willing to receive it. Nar-Anon is not a replacement and does not provide professional treatment. Nar-Anon is not affiliated with any other fellowship, or recovery program.
