Default Inmate And Prison Facility Ammunition Rules and Regs

Is there any case law that will support a person's case if an inmate has came into contact with ammunition at a prison facility? Per se if there is a gun range that possibly mental inmates are mandated to clean.

Thanks in advance.

I cannot fathom a gun range on prison grounds but if this is in TX.....well, I dont know what to say to that.
Let alone having inmates clear the range, let alone someone with a mental health issue.

Thanks in advance.
There is prison policy that should dictate that no prisoner should come in direct contact with any live ammunition or firearms. If this type of thing you are speaking about is factual. The Director of Corrections needs to be informed ASAP.
From my own personal expernices as a inmate having to work at or around the gun range The department made sure their was no firearms or ammunition at the range when we were their. One time when we were suppose to paint the inside of the gun range building. We entered( let in by staff) There was boxes of empty shell cartages sitting on a table. I informed my supervisor that I would not work in that building until those cartages were removed. The next day the gun range called and said the building was clear now. The Sargent thank her for being so aware. She was quick to say it was an inmate that saw the cartages and refused to be in the building.
Bottom line no inmate should be around any kind of firearms or ammunition
while in custody . it just violates all policy and procedures of the department .Plus it is a major threat to the security and safety of the facility

Im not clear on the laws surrounding an inmate with regards to spent ammo.
I know a parolee would face consequences. Likely a trip back to prison.
So if it is as you say and someone took spent ammo to their cell/bunk.....that was not a great idea. What the mental health issues are, are probably not relevant here.

Im still fairly stunned they would have a gun range and allow any inmate access to it for whatever reason.
