FCI El Reno: Is it a transfer facility? Will he be able to call?
HI! My loved one got sent to FCI El Reno with no warning. Any info will help regarding this facility please? Is it a transfer facility? will he be able to call? He was at a low FCI..does it mean he got in trouble? I thought they normally put you in SHU if you get in trouble? thanks to anyone responding!!
Yes Oklahoma City is the main bop transfer facility where the con air planes taxi right up to the prison. I went from Atlanta to Pennsylvania via OKC, so stopping there sometimes only makes sense to the bop. He will stay there anywhere from a couple days, to over a month, and sometimes they are so crowded that inmates are held in local county jails. If he is housed in the bop prison, it's a pretty decent place.

He will have to tell you what happened, the bop won't. One way the bop deals with trouble at one prison is by moving lots of prisoners to different ones.
El Reno is Medium security, so if he was moved there from a Low it was because his custody score increased, usually after a conduct shot and DHO hearing, But he will have to tell you what happened.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!! Just to clarify..is OKC the same as FCI El Reno? He went to FTC OKC before but now at FCI El Reno so I just want to check if its also another transfer facility? THANKS AGAIN!! and sorry for asking again..I'm just hoping there's a chance he gets transferred and that it's not because he got in trouble since he was at an FCI low. And do you happen to know if an inmate gets in trouble can they automatically get transferred? or Do they get sent to the SHU first and someone talks to them first to tell them what they did wrong? THANKS!

No, they are different prisons. Oklahoma City is the main bop transfer prison, located on the OKC Airport. El Reno is a completely different prison located in El Reno, Oklahoma.
If an inmate leaves the former prison from the SHU, they are almost always housed in the SHU at the new one. That could be until they serve a previous punishment, or until the "investigation" is completed where they may or may not face a new conduct violation hearing.
