Default How to make this guy stop calling??

A while back, I was looking for through the pen pal ads. I came across one with a Facebook page. I checked it out and friended him. The person managing the page said the guy needed pen pals and asked me for my address and phone number. Without thinking, I gave her both. My address is a PO box. A few days later, the guy called. It was a free call. I talked to the guy... He is young and we really don't have much in common. He called again. This time, a recording comes on and wants me to pay like $10 for the call with my credit card. I won't do that. I denied it. He continued to call. I won't answer. I wrote him and asked him not to call because I will not pay for the phone calls.. He continues to call. Sometimes at midnight.. I have picked up the phone and denied a few more times thinking he would quit calling but he won't stop!!!! How can I make this stop??? It is annoying!!!!!!

Sometimes we make mistakes. Suck it up and change your number. I know it can be a hassle getting a new number to the people that need it but honestly he does not sound like he is giving up anytime soon. Change your number and if you happen to get any mail, return it to sender. Then, just be more careful going forward. Best wishes

How is he calling you at midnight? I would call the prison and ask for your number to be blocked from anyone calling you from the prison.

Can't you block the number from your phone ? Or have your phone company do it?

If the call was really coming from a prison, there is an option to block the call and all future calls. I don't believe you're receiving legitimate calls from a prison and I'd find a way to block the number.

Hopefully, you won't freely give out your number in the future.

Contact your phone company and ask that they block collect calls.
What company is named in the recording you hear? This does not sound like any call I've ever recieved.

In the future, please don't give out your info but rather choose an ad that intrigues you and write to them directly.
There's no reason *ever* for your number to be needed until and unless you have exchanged letters long enough to be comfortable with your pal calling and comfortable setting limits as to how often you want to absorb the expense of accepting the calls.

He is using gettingout.com... It comes through as a 1-800 number. The reason he can call at midnight is because of the time change. He is two hours behind me.... Weird thing is that I just looked at his Facebook page. It says he is in a relationship now. He just called today.. I think he just wants money.. That won't happen.. I can't change my number. It is my company cell phone.. :-(

If they don't give you a way to block them, add the number to your contacts and then set the ringtone for that number to either "no ring" or something so short and quiet that it won't bother you.

You can call the prison and ask them to intervene. They can remove you from his call list and if he persists they will follow up.

I looked on gettingout.com under FAQs, this is what it says:

How can I prevent an inmate/detainee from calling me?
We are happy to block your number from phone calls from a specific inmate or an entire facility. Simply call customer service from the phone number you want blocked, and a representative will help you out.

I would call 1.866.516.0115 from your cell to have your number blocked. Done!

Wow! Two people? That's nice...he just gave your number away. SMH.

I'm glad they're blocked though. Glad I could help.
