I will provide a brief highlight of the facilities provisions. Please understand this information is a bit dated.

The camp at Oakdale FCC houses about 175 inmates all in one dorm with a north and a south wing.

It has its own kitchen and small dining room.

Inmates are provided the use of 2 Microwave ovens.

There are laundry facilities in each wing of the dorms.

The facility has its own chapel which also serves as Town Hall and evening recreation area and other functions as well.

The camp has its own recreation area with a weight pad, 1/4 mile paved walking track, pool tables and 5 TV rooms. There is a bocce ball court, tennis court, basketball court, volleyball and softball fields. Overall the recreation there is relatively good should one desire such.

Inmates assigned to the camp support the entire facility which includes FDC and the FCC-Medium/Low facility.

Camp inmates keep the grounds, work within the warehouse serving the entire institution and also within the garage the facility maintains.

Jobs are abundant for those desiring to work and pay is not bad generally.

The facility also has(d)? a Welding class available for inmates desiring to take it. This is provided through Louisiana Technical College - Oakdale Campus.

Overall, one could not expect to find a better place to endure their sentence.
I say this for a couple of reasons. 1.) The facility being an older one -built before the Reno vs. BOP decisions- is equipped with many of the amenities now banned by that Court decision. 2.) The staff there is generally very courteous and treat offenders with respect. Typical of Louisiana people for the most part.

I have no problem answering any further questions you may have about the place as I am sure I missed a multitude of things here. I don't have the luxury of the time to do it now though. Feel free to email me with any specifics.
