Well, if if weren't for the fact I still haven't figured out where you live vs where you visit vs where you used to live I'd come whisk you off for lunch.

Regardless, it would be a long drive and might mean trying to cross Texas, but it is better than trying to figure that menu out.

I love garlic bread. In fact I love all bread even though I did see a recipe here for cornbread that called for sugar and I don't like sweet cornbread.

I just finished a bowl of pasta with sauce and the sauce had extra green bell peppers, onions, capers, red pepper flakes and Italian sausage.

It was so good I am off for 2nds.

OK, Tuscaloosa is on the way to AZ - that will work.

Vodka may not be heart healthy, but ever since I learned Tito's vodka has the motto

"Tito's - the vodka for dog people"

I've felt an obligation to buy and drink Tito's. It is my duty as a dog foster and rescue person; I owe it to my dogs.

Not to mention it is good and US made. I tried my best to like vodka make with potatoes, but just couldn't do it.

Plus tonic water contains quinine which prevents malaria which is common is skeeter country. And limes prevent rickets; can't risk getting rickets. Ergo - a Tito's and tonic with lime is good for my health.

Quinine is also in prescription meds that quell the affects of rheumatism.

This is all sounding better all of the time.

Oh they'd have way too much fun naming the show. We'd all be distilled into three caricatures of prison life. And we all know how that goes. LOL

At some point we'd be forced by contract to re-create prison spread with the added challenge of making it gluten free.

Most vodka is made with grains or corn - very little of it is made with potatoes although I didn't know that when I was going through my Russian fiction phase. I thought I had to drink Russian vodka made with potatoes to make the novels more real.

I can tell you drinking vodka and reading Russian fiction at the same time is a bit difficult. The Russian names are hard enough without drinking!

Luckily, I moved on from Russian literature; I am now on a WW I and II binge. Specifically British female spies and their names are far easier even though they seem to knock back whiskey for just about any reason.

WAIT!!!!!

There is a big difference between evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. It it is sweetened it cannot be used in place of milk; it is as thick as honey and sweet enough to set one's teeth on edge.

Yes, but you want to dilute it.

Ok but why? And how much water to milk? I used some in mashed potatoes but didn't dilute it and they came out fine, but it would be for a regular mix and I don't keep milk in the house normally. But started buying the canned evaporated in case I ever needed milk.

Evaporated means they took out a bunch of the water....so for normal use, you'd put water back in.

If you don't want to use evaporated milk (and it does have a very slight 'burnt' taste), you can get powdered milk. It's shelf stable and if you mix it ahead of when you need it and then refrigerate it, the flavor is decent.
