LOL we should have good mexican food but it suck here where I live. I'm bumming out I have to actually go shopping and really can't think what I want. Nothing really tastes good, and I can't help feeling like I'm wasting my time cooking as my dog is the only one who wants to eat dinner, last night she had ground sirloin.

David has made a crockpot pot roast. I have had more dental work done and am drinking clam chowder and eating chocolate ice cream. I am daydreaming about Chili's country fried steak w/mashed & gravy.

I decided to make my chili cheese dip early...turned out watery. The sour cream consistency is the only thing I can think of.

I'm going to add another can of chili with beans and re-bake it.

Well I did shop but then amazingly two neighbors brought me dinner!!! One was fried chicken mashed potatoes green beans and baked beans, and a roll. The other was a quart of veggie soup!!! I am so lucky with my neighbors. I have really been so bummed out about stuff lately and then I get surprised by these wonderful people who worry I'm not eating!!!

It's raining and cold here today. I'm going to change plans and make chili and cornbread.

I'm making apple pie (standard winter fare here) and home-made chicken tenders for the folks who are coming.

I just locked myself outside while feeding the dogs with no shoes on and the hidden key is for the front door.

I will be getting spare keys made and my feet are freezing!

Its been very warm here for this time of year.
Its sort of too bad as we need more rain. We will probably get it...
Its just been warm enough to want to get in the garden, but I know better. Its fake spring!! lol

will wait til may or maybe april to begin.

and Oh. I did make the soup, and I was disappointed. The noodles were not the same as the first time I made them and they took on way to much of the broth. grrrrrrrr. It still tasted good but darn it. That was the best part of the soup last time

ah, I am sorry it didn't meet your expectations. I thought it sounded amazing and planned to google recipes for it or similar.

With noodles in soup you need to keep them separate and drained or that always happens!!! Unless your going to eat it all when noodles are just done, then its fine to cook them in the soup.

I have learned to cook the pasta, rice or potatoes separately and to add them when served.

These noodles are rice noodles. You dont really even cook them. You soak them first in hot water (from the faucet) Last time I had leftovers and the noodles never got soggy.
It still tasted GOOD. And we did have it last night again. I added 2 more cans of chicken stock.
Here is the original recipe
http://prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=698655

I didnt add the brown sugar this time as I the can of coconut milk didnt say it was unsweetened, so I skipped it.

Oh yeah, one more thing.....hub wanted to add avacodo.......I didnt have that the first night (he did) but did last night.
It didnt really add anything but it still tasted yummy.

Oh I never made rice noodles so I had no idea how they are prepared, I was just going by adding noodles or rice to soups. Very interesting I have had them in a Japanese restaurant, I never made any thing that called for them I will check out this soup though see if it's up my proverbial alley!!!

Just getting ready to start a big pot of GUMBO!!! I don't know I am addicted to it but it's a lot of work and if I make it good it costs a lot, I'm picking up CRAWFISH at noon today, I'm so excited to really make it with the crawfish!!!! I'm surprised you can't get decent Gumbo where I live unless you make yourself.

It's one of those potluck nights. I had a long shift last night and really have no energy this evening.

It's either fast food or we will more than likely have whatever I can mishmash together from what's left of this week's suppers.

Dishwasher pods/laundry pods!!! I can't tell if I put laundry pods in with dishwasher ones. They both seem to work really well for dishwasher lol. I was afraid to use them thinking bubbles all over!!! I never take stuff out of the original container because of this. I drove myself crazy with this yesterday.

We aint got no stinkin pods here.
Hell we just unplugged our dishwasher. Have not used it in over a yr (it does not drain...and even when not in use, it would still fill up with water so we disconnected it)

We do have a new thing for using in the dryer. Instead of dryer sheets......we got Lamby balls. lol.
they look like white tennis balls (but a tad larger) They go in the dryer with wet clothes. Its ok. I DO notice the towels are super absorbent after drying in the dryer.
(and no, I didnt use dryer sheets with towels as they DO lose absorbency)

What to make for dinner tonight?
Im stuck. We had bbq chicken two nights ago, and a store bought lasagne ravioli last night.

I'm so pissed I got up early to let exterminator in and just realized he doesn't come till next Tuesday!!! LOL I'm trying to clean out my freezer use up stuff before its no good I think meat loaf or something like that for tomorrow as my friend is coming for a few days and she loves my meatloaf. Tonight it steak, NY Strips. Might make some potato salad as that's another favorite and I have every thing to make it. I have so much crap left from the holidays that I froze and I just need to use or I'm going to have to throw out. Pie crusts, cream cheese, a lot of baking stuff. Tons of cheese, and assorted antipasto stuff that actually could be used for lasagna!! Gotta take stock and possibly go buy noodles for lasagna.

Barbie, I need a gumbo update?

I think gumbo is one of the most perfect foods ever, but it is a time consumer to make.
