Unhappy How can I take my niece to see her father at High Desert prison ?

Hi so this is so much about me personally take my niece to see her dad in prison it's more of how my mom would go about it. Recently some drama has happened between my family and my niece's mom. My brother can now have visitors see him and when we go, we being my mom, brother, sister and me, we want to take my niece with us so that my brother can see his daughter. But with all the drama happening we don't want to take her mother and we don't know how to take my niece without the mom. We know she would give us permission to but is it a paper she has to fill out or get permission from the prison ? any help and advice would help.

He is at high dessert state prison in Jacksonville,Ca

U need a noterized letter from the mom giving you permission to take your niece to whatever your brother is at. If she's older then18yrs or older she needs to do the background. Check. Also everytime you take her you need you need to for the same thing over again.
it neededs to have besides her name your brothers name and CDC plus the dates your going.
Also you need her birth certificate.
if she is in Jr or high school (I believve 14 yes and above) bring her school id. N e other questions feel free to pm me. Good luck.. hope this helps

When I went visit our childhood friend a couple of months ago a CO talked with us the evening before, he told me no tan pants, no wire in bra. I wore black pants and a purple top.

These rules may have been updated/changed (I apologize if I am incorrect, we are still learning too) but these are what my husband and I follow.

My husband and I plan on visiting our childhood friend next weekend. We made an appointment through VPASS, I printed it out, what is the next process? Our time is for 8:00, do we show up and sign in and wait? We have not used vpass before so we are a tad confused and seeing our drive is 4.5 hours one way we din't want to mess up. Thank you so very much.

You can arrive as early as 7:30AM . They have you line up in your cars outside along the dirt road if it before 7:30AM. The CO's at the parking gate will check your ID, your trunk (idk why they do that) and issue you a parking pass. They will show you where to go, but you just drive down a short road and park in the first lot. You check in with the friends outside trailer as this facility doesnt allow you to bring your car keys inside so they will give you a small 'locker' to keep them in until your visit is over. Then you walk to the processing center and wait in line. They will call you by time slot so you will be in the first bunch if you're 8AM. Have a good visit!

Thank you, it seems to be the same as last year, the VPASS appointment I made confused. If my husband is just going to be dropping me off (he will go back to the hotel with our children, we still have a good 7 years before they will come) do I still write down drop off?
Thanks again

sandals with straps on the back are fine...you can't wear leggings or any pants that are too tight.

You're allowed to kiss & hug when he comes out and like the last 5 minutes before you leave. We always sneak in a few quick kisses throughout the visit though. The CO's don't really trip as long as you don't have a full blown make-out session or long kisses. They have games available for you to play...scrabble & other board games. Depending on the yard, you may be able to go outside....I know you can in A yard, but not B. Other than that, you pretty much sit at a table that comes about mid-calf...it's crazy low to the ground, and the chairs aren't that comfy...sorry. But you get to spend time with your love from about 9-2:30 Saturday & Sunday. Make sure you hit the vending machine before he comes out and get everything you think he may want...that way you avoid the lines. HTH

All I brought with me is jogging suits. And this is not in the title 15. Do they have a OP signed off by Sac?

I know the $40.00 is incorrect. You are allowed 50 per adult and 20 per child. You can't take in dollar bills?

I also need to know how we get photo ducats. Do visitors buy them or does the inmate need to buy them?
Thanks in advance.

Question Need help

Is there a number I can call about specific questions I may have? I have a Dermal Anchor/Piercing in my chest that I have questions about. I can't just take it out. It has to be surgically removed.

Thank you everyone for any help!

Default New to HDSP

I have a lot of questions about this facility. I've searched through some of the threads but didn't quite find all the answers so if anyone can help I would appreciate it. My brother has just been transferred to HDSP from Corcoran SHU. HE's been in the SHU for 15 years so this is going to be a big change for him. 12 of those years spent at Pelican Bay SHU. Therefore, I haven't visited mainline in 15 years. SHU visitng is very simple since its behind glass.

I'm bringing a baby up there to visit. I see the 5 diapers and diaper wipes in clear plastic. What about jarred baby food? and a spoon? How long is mainline visiting? 9-3pm? I know that's what it used to be years ago.

Is HDSP mainly young guys? My brother is hardly young so I'm surprised he was sent there. But with the CDC I guess nothing is really a surprise. Its just Susanville is just as far as Pelican Bay, just more inland. I live in SoCal. Is it best to fly into Reno and then drive?

Any hotel recommendations? Also what is this VPASS system?

I appreciate any answers.

Regards,

TN

Good morning.

I was at HDSP for the first time last weekend.
Visiting times are 8-3 Saturday and Sunday
I would sign up for V-pass on the CDCR it guarantees a visit and time. I think it would be easier to fly into Reno and drive and hour and a half to Susanvillle. There is a Best Western and Diamond Casino that are the nicest and the most updated.

If you want my email or phone number private message me I'm more than happy to help.

Do I need to submit a new visitor's pass? Or does the one from Corcoran follow?
Also has anyone driven highway 395 to Susanville? I'm taking his daughter and granddaughter and I'm trying to cut expenses. Flying for all 3 of us would cost around $600. Since Reno is only 90 minutes away I'll probably stay there so I can come back and drink and gamble in the evening after a day at the CDC.
