Default HB 189 and SB 394 would retroactively lower 85% to 65%, YES

I see the bill was passed for 65% served gain time, and your sentance is done Is that for Fedral Florida Prisons or all Florida Prisons ???

If you're talking about the First Step Act and the additional days per month, its for Federal inmates - regardless of what state their in - and not for state inmates - in any state. Federal only.

EDIT: 65% served gain time...I've never heard of that, not worded that way. What is the Bill number? What state?

EDIT: Rumor. And its a rumor that has been going around as far back as 2004, probably longer.

Awwwww, dammit Any time there is legislation on the table that you would like to see passed, call your Legislator / Representative and tell them to vote yes. They work for the people, and ya'll "the people," The more people that call, (hopefully) the better the results.

Retroactive Gain-Time Bill Would Reform Florida's Harsh Prison Sentencing Laws

Two "gain-time" bills making their way through the Florida Legislature would reform the state's harsh minimum sentencing laws — a move experts say would promote good behavior and public safety while saving the state hundreds of millions of dollars.

Florida's population has doubled since 1980, but the number of incarcerated individuals has increased nearly fivefold in that time, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. A driving force of the swelling prison population is the state's "Truth in Sentencing" law, which requires all felons to serve at least 85 percent of their sentence, even if they are a first-time or nonviolent offender....

...Companion legislation in the Florida House and Senate — HB 189 and SB 394 — would retroactively lower the 85 percent sentence requirement to 65 percent, allowing nonviolent or first-time offenders to be released earlier for good behavior. Newburn says the change would create an incentive for inmates to adopt a new pattern of behavior inside prison that can be used upon release as well.

Read entire article below - then call your Representatives & Legislators, urge them to vote YES.
