Ah, Ginger. I'm going through the same thing with my mom's stuff now....accountants, annuities to be dole out, who's got the official death certificates, where all the papers have to go (4 still-living siblings). Exhausting and sorrowful, for sure.

But once it's all done, I can simply remember who she was and how much she meant to my life.

for those using this as a roadmap to settling an estate:

If your deceased loved one is retired military, you MUST return their military ID for security purposes. That may have been the hardest letter I've ever had to send, and I've had to send some doozies. Look up your nearest RAPIDS location and mail it there.

Depending on their security clearance during their time of service, you may also have to notify the State Department. Look on the DEERS website for who you need to send the death certificate to.

It's been a long road.
