Default Parole Recommended

So my friend received word that parole had been recommended. Seems pretty straightforward. He read the letter over the phone. So is this likely a for sure thing, or what can happen to prevent him actually being released?

We both kinda raise an eyebrow just because the language seems ambiguous. I assume it's probably very likely he gets released, but you just never know.

He had kids, so he doesn't want to get anyone's hopes up and then get bad news.

Did it say "based upon completion" of SAP or MRT? If it does say "based upon completion", he'll have to get in the recommended program and complete it then they will review his file again. If not, then he's been granted and should be out by his actual parole eligibility date.

If he's currently in SAP or MRT, then he'll have to successfully complete it before he is released.

Congratulations on his parole approval He should be released on the first day of the month that he's eligible for parole....so if that's February, he should be released Feb 1st.

**When My Mr was granted parole w/completion of MRT, he would still have 3 weeks left of class when his release date rolled around. Even though the Board said "w/completion," the facility said, "you'll be out the door on your release date & can finish MRT on the street." He did complete it after release.**

Not saying that's how all facilities do it, but that's how it went in our case.

EDIT: Things can happen to screw up parole. Tell your friend to keep a low profile. Be aware of his surroundings, maybe stay off the yard, possibly quit his job if there's any stress/bs to it. Sometimes other inmates, lord knows why, but they'll intentionally try to screw up another inmate's parole.

Thank you both!!

He only had SAP as required and he successfully completed that last month. His papers only said he'd be expected to complete any program his PO required upon release.

His PED is in January, so does that mean he'd come out Jan 1st?? It's so crazy to imagine, he was sure he'd get a flop.

He's had a clean standing in there for a long time now. He stays out of stuff. Someone commented tonight that this was what he gets for laying up in his rack reading. I'm sure he'll stay aware of his surroundings - even more so now. But he's always minding that sort of thing. Still, makes you nervous until they're out I guess.

He just kept reading the letter and asking if that sounded like he made parole or what. I think it's gonna take a minute to soak in.
