Default Penpal struggling with Dorm setting :(

Hi, my friend has been moved into a dormitory and is really struggling with having guys 2 feet away from him when he sleeps and zero privacy.
I would be really thankful, if anyone would send him a card please? He gets released in May 2018 and I'm worried that he's going to snap and wreck his chances of realease

I'll happily send a card to anyone you nominate

Many thanks! Xxx

I really liked the dorm setting, personally. I was in a worker dorm with 68 bunks total.

Thanks What are they like? He says the bunks are around 2 feet apart - I guess being moved so soon to his release, is making him itchy

I was in a county jail in southern California about 20 years ago. The bunks were about 3-4 feet apart. Yeah, everyone is on top of you. But its like that everywhere. Where I was, the only way to not be in a cell with someone else was to be a security thread or protective custody (or the Hole).

Honestly, the dorm was way better than the other cells. The other cells were a fraction of the size and still had six men in it. So it was like constantly being in like your son's bedroom surrounded by five other guys. The dorm was a lot bigger so there actually was room to get away from everyone else....as much as you can at least.

I've been in both dorms and cells, and they both take some getting used too. Change is always hard in prison especially that close to your release date when tensions and stress are at an all time high. It's funny because things that sound trivial to everyone else on the outside are sometimes really big deals when in there. Every lil change in routine is hard to deal with as it messes up the flow of time. When u have a routine in there it makes time go faster when that gets messed up it can take a couple weeks to a month to get back on track.
