Never come between an 81-year-old and her marijuana plant

Peg Holcomb, an 81-year-old Amherst resident, has been nurturing her single marijuana plant, nestled within the raspberry bushes in the farthest corner of her Amherst backyard, for years. Never caused any problems with neighbors or police, she said.
Until the afternoon of Sept. 21, when a “very low-flying, official-looking helicopter” armed with camera-pointing men flew around her backyard, a warning of what was to come: several police vehicles — many of them already full to the brim with pot, she said — descending onto her driveway to confiscate the plant.

Massachusetts voters will decide whether to legalize the drug for recreational use in November.
Bless her heart....and go granny go! One plant, just one They could've left her alone until at least after the vote should it not pass. I hope Massachusetts legalizes reefer for recreational use. If they do, we'll need an update to this thread

It's going to be a very interesting vote here in the very blue state of MA. All of this with the 81-year-old came about because she doesn't have a medical marijuana card issued by the Commonwealth and the plant was supposedly in full view.

Every day you see a different POV demonstrated by the pro and con sides. Medical professionals pouring out to claim how marijuana is a gateway drug and others saying the state should legalize it, tax it and regulate it.

The reality is even if it is legalized, the Commonwealth will ensure there are so many new laws introduced to govern it that it will still keep local drug dealers and under the radar growers in business.

It's on the ballot here in AZ, too. Coming from a very liberal and legal state, Oregon, I find the anti-legalization advertising here downright hilarious. On par with 1936 film 'Reefer Madness'.

Poor granny.

Well, of COURSE, it has to be illegal. I mean, come ON!! The pharmaceutical companies can't make any money off it.

And poor granny. Geez, where is the freaking logic???
