Default Sb1355 - call for emergency action

To the Oklahoma peeples and anyone else who might wish to send out the word (it doesn't matter where you are from) - SB1355 is going to a committee tomorrow to be voted on. This bill will require all registrants to obtain a court order to get off the registry. We all know that many registrants cannot find work and they are overwhelmed with fees, testing, counseling, and other ridiculous costs because of the registry. They can barely support their families or themselves much less pay for court costs and a possible attorney. This will also impact those registrants who have completed their term and just want off the registry - they can't unless the court orders it - how many times do they want a person to go to court? It is outrageous.

The House Public Safety Committee meets tomorrow (3/28) at 10:30 am. There is still time to get out an email or call to these people and tell them to vote no on this bill. If you have time, please let them know how it will impact registrants and their families or a brief summary of your situation. If you don't live in this state, just say you have friends in Oklahoma who will be impacted (you do have a friend - it is me and my SO son). Any help is deeply appreciated. Without a voice, they won't hear us. I still cannot posts links but you can go to the Oklahoma legislative website and click on House Public Safety Committee that has links to each member's email and phone number. Don't select the public safety committee under "appropriations committees) - it is a separate committe from that one. Thanks all - we need to speak out!
