Default Morgellons

Morgellons is a mysterious skin disease whose sufferers report a crawling sensation on or under their skin and fibers emerging from it. The government report concluded that it was all in the patient's mind.

Well - about a third of the inmates at South Bay CF suffer from this mysterious disease.

I think it is environmental. Does anyone else have loved ones suffering from Morgellons?

I've heard of this before and just re-reading these articles made me itch =0

I'd hate to be told that something was "all in my head" but it kind of sounds like that may be the case. The lesions or sores may be caused because the people who think they have things crawling on them or growing out of them are scratching and picking. Kind of like drug users do....

Definitely a weird ailment.

It could also be scabies - very real, not in their minds - and enough to drive someone crazy with the itching. I've heard of some outbreaks at some facilities over the years after some inmates were told it was all in their minds for a long time.

Yeah scabies are definitely real. And from what Ive heard, extremely painful. Same with shingles. I'd hate to have any of those conditions. Including the one this topic is about. I can only imagine what these people must go through....just the thought alone makes me itchy and nervous. And then to be told its all in their mind. How incredibly frustrating!

<Mayo Clinic> Skin rashes or sores that can cause intense itching
Crawling sensations on and under the skin, often compared to insects moving, stinging or biting
Fibers, threads or black stringy material in and on the skin
Severe fatigue
Inability to concentrate and short-term memory loss
Behavioral changes
Joint pain
Vision changes

I can understand any of the problems posted above, but how the h do they explain black stringy material coming out of the skin?

Ca,Tx and Florida seems to be where the cases are, but how do they know that if its all in their fn heads?

on a side note, if you have a family member with Alzhimers Disease, check into Virgin Coconut Oil. Some are swearing by it. Its around $10 in store. Must be Virgin. Sounds worth a try to me.

VIrgin Coconut Oil is so good for your health in general. I got rid of vegetabe oil - it's so bad for you. I only use vco now and it's amazing. I make sure I have 3 Tablespoons a day - whether it's for cooking, in a cup of tea or straight.

Its not scabies or shingles. both can be taken care of pretty quick. Shingles a little longer.

Its the black fibers that is driving me crazy. The guards, nurses etc can not see that? As a nurse for 20 yrs, I can tell you, I would have that guy to the hospital. Do you know if they are in isolation? I dont know if its contagious but it sure wouldnt hurt anything. A third of South Bay? And right now they are doing major shifting inmates around. No wonder we all think we are loosing our minds at times, its because we are. ack!
