Question Accommodation in Castlemaine

Does anyone know of any reasonably priced accommodation in Castlemaine? I know that Blake Cottage is available, but are there other options? It's only been three weeks of travelling the 3 hour round trip on Saturday and Sunday, but I leave the visits emotionally exhausted and I'm scared of having an accident on the way home!

However, how I live for these weekends! Three hours of my husband . After PPP, MAP and MRC (where we were always told off for too much affection(!!!!)), Loddon is so relaxed! It certainly helps having something to look forward to, although I would rather have him home, this is life for now .

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ta,
Marcy

Hi Marcy

Unfortunately you won't find anything cheaper than Blake Cottage in Castlemaine itself. I have a friend who stayed there and she said it was pretty good but I was put off by the hoops VACRO make you jump through to stay there. I couldn't be bothered with all the form filling and having to book weeks in advance so I gave it a miss.

I've got a pamphlet regarding cheap accommodation in Maldon which is about a 20 minute drive from Castlemaine. This pamphlet was printed in 2005 so the prices are out of date but it might be worth a phone call to find out details. I have a feeling it's for something similar to a backpackers so if you don't mind that here's what it says:

CENTRAL SERVICE CENTRE
AFFORDABLE
ACCOMMODATION

SINGLE BEDS from $40
DOUBLE ROOM $65
FAMILY ROOM $70

All rooms have Ensuite, TV, Frig
Airconditioner
Tea and Coffee making Facilities
No Food Provided

also available

LAUNDRETTE
DRIVEWAY SERVICE
CUBE AND BLOCK ICE

PAY TOILETS AND SHOWERS

Open Daily 8.00 am till 5.30 pm

1 Main Street Maldon
BH 5475 2216
AH 5475 2182
affordableaccommodation@gcom.net.au
All information current 1st January 2005 and subject to change without notice

I get the impression the address and phone numbers provided are for the booking service not the accommodation itself but, as I said, it might be worth phoning or emailing them to find out more about this place.

Hey guys. My partner who has been recently transfered to Loddon and he said that the prison has a deal with a place where u can stay over night..apparently u pay half and the prison pays the other half if u were to do a full weekend visit.
I live 3hrs from castlemaine and this weekend coming up will be my first visit in 3 weeks to see my partner with our daughter.
I will find out more and sure to post the newer info in here...
OR u could ring up Loddon and find out if they do that.

Hope i have helped in some way.

Hi,
Did you end up finding out which place it is?
I'm curious!
