Ah, good ol' Las Colinas...I currently have 1 very good friend there, and 3 or 4 ladies I grew up with around my neighborhood there. All the females who are arrested in San Diego County go through Las Colinas and are there during court appearances and such. The move after sentencing if going to State. My good friend got 60 days and she's due out here in August-she did her whole time there and she tells me that it sucks there. She's been to prison before, and she said LC is awful. My tip would be avoid it, don't get in trouble in San Diego City or County but the visitation is call ahead to schedule behind glass (at least when I visited my homegirl it was and that was about a year ago.) That's about all I know about LC-I've never been in trouble so I don't KNOW, but I've heard!

Yes los colinas facility is not a fun time. The place is run down and over crowed. They are at the capacity all the time. If your locked down in a cell the conditions are shitty. There are 6 girls packed in each cell. There are two rows of with 3 bunk beds piled high. One of the bunk beds is horrible with only a foot between you and the girl above. I'm sorry but that shit is not acceptable to me and it's not how we treat human beings even in jail.
There is a commissary were you can purchase food packs, phone time and put $$$ on an inmates account. If you can afford it and you love/miss the person locked up get them spend about $150 divided into phone time, food, and $$$. They get to use the money to buy shit that isn't online like sodas (which they die for). That soda sometimes is all they have to look forward to cause they only get water and milk to drink. The lucky few that get food packs use these to trade for and also to survive. The food is horrible and if the inmate has medical issues with food, they will starve.
One thing to keep in mind ...
***Please send an email to them everyday, talk about anything in the email. If they call answer the phone and don't ignore them (unless they start drama and act like a bitch). These little things are all the inmate has to look forward to and helps them keep they're sanity and survive. One email a day will make them feel loved and missed. Its a good thing to do for someone (no matter what they did).
The day they are set to be released is a good day for family and friends. But be prepared to wait for anywhere from 2-6 hours if not more. There's nothing you can do about it and it sucks. At least there are seats, bathrooms, vending machines, TV and its very chill outside, with a grassy area. If the inmate gets out and nobody is there for them, they have a decent safe place to hang out until they get a ride or walk on out of there. The downtown jail in SD sucks for the guys cause u get dumped into the street and loved ones can never find you.
FYI - If you think the girls can't get drugs in there your wrong.... Also all I can say is there is some freaky shit going on there that would be the likes of an adult porn movie...or whatever, what do I know???
For you single guys it's not such a bad idea to hang outside the release area if your looking for a date. I often see many girls get released and don't have anyone that cares about them. No ride, no food, no money, no dope, etc..... So if your nice and not a douche bag I'm sure you could be a hero to one of those girls and make their day.
Sorry if anything I said is shocking but it's the truth about that place.
