Im new to these forums and im trying to find out some information to help my brother. He is currently incarcerated at Gunnison serving out a 1-15 yr sentence. He has his parole hearing next tuesday on Feb 15. Prior to his felony convictions that he is incarcerated for he had been arrested in nevada and was placed in drug diversion court. Since he wasn't able to go to his court dates in neveda due to being locked up in utah they have placed a detainer on him.
Does anyone have any information to find out how to deal with the detainer from Nevada? Ideally, we are looking for information on how to get his sentences running concurrently while he is serving time here in utah.. its heartbreaking to think of all the progress and time spent here in utah to just have to immediately go start over in nevada. Any help or insight is GREATLY appreciated.
You will have to call the Nevada courts and see if they can do a hearing for him from the prison. Then hopefully they will be willing to run them concurrently. Sometime they will and sometimes they will make them serve time in both places. But it is up to the Nevada courts. So, that is where you should start
