How does the thought of 2012 come to you?

I could do without reading the replies from you Phil, this seriously scares the shit out of me. I had heard NOTHING about this until last month. I worry enough about dying as it it, but I cannot imagien going thru the things they say "MIGHT" happen.

I have spent hours googling this crap along with the other scary things going on in my life. I know nothing about none of it, but its just another thing to add to the WORRY LIST. I wanted to live a long life with my husband and wanted to see my daughter grow up.

Just sick about it all, guess theres nothing I can do until it happens, but it certainly has added about 8 more gray hairs on my head.

I know what you mean thugwife. My granddaughter just turned 16 and I want her to have a long and wonderful life.
I wish the 2012 thing was just a big hoax but it isn't and many things will happen, to the planet and to us. In my research I have found that many world governments are building deep mountain shelters. Seeds for all kinds of food crops are being placed in a deep mountain shelter inside the arctic circle in Norway. Some things do concern me like FEMA building and converting old military facilities into prisons around the country. I guess the government thinks many people will lose it as the time gets closer and will start locking them up to maintain order. I guess it does make sense, for our safety.
My big concern is if the state prisons will start to release offenders who have families early. If they don't there may be many prison riots.
Maybe this is a little off PTO subject but relevant to the 2012 thing. There is a big movement with the US, Canada, England, France and Russia to go public with their long relationship with aliens from several other planets. Some of these countries are already releasing their alien contact files. Word is now that Obama will be holding a two hour world wide news disclosure about the alien relationship with some of the earths major governments. My hope is that there may be a secret plan working with them that will save people or possibly alter the earths orbit a few degrees early enough to miss most of the possible damage to the earth. Let's face it - we need all the help we can get to survive what is to come.
I am a Christian and have to look at what the Bible tells us. We are nearing the end times and must trust in Gods plan for us. Remember the man next to Jesus on the cross and what Jesus said to him as he was dying, "tomorrow you will be in paradise"... We are only tied to this life by our human bodies which will eventually fail. I do not fear death because I do not believe in death. There have been several times in my life that I know I should have died or been killed but didn't by some miracle. So I trust in God and his plan for me.
I just noticed in a Christian book store flier that there is a book about 2012 and the end of the world in the NON-FICTION section...
Remember the Serenity prayer.... We must live our daily lives to the fullest and live in the present.

Ok wow. Phil you have got me even more worried now. What happened to 200 wasn't the world supposed to end then and years before that. I hope this is just another prediction, bc NOBODY knows when the world is going to end! Nobody except god and jesus! I am just going to have to hope for the best and at least like I said before we all go together and I'll be with my parents and brother and the rest of my family. I PRAY it doesn't end. I want to have a big wedding and kids and grow old with the one I love. I'm going to stick with that plan!! AND ALIANS!! OMGOSHH!! :worry:

The Y2K (2000) thing was all about the worlds computers possibly not making the change over from 1900 to 2000. All it did was make a lot of people and big corporations spend money on Y2K patches. I never thought our society would collapse if we had no computers. We managed until the 1980s and the Amish do just fine without computers..

Yeah. I know about the 'camps' and all that. Some say it's because of biological warfare, some say it's for 2012 & some BELIEVED it was because of the swine flu.. which really ended up being a big hoax and is NO MORE DANGEROUS than the regular seasonal flu.

This type of stuff has been going on since the beginning of time. There is no PROOF. There are books that may CLAIM proof but until I see it.. PLAIN PROOF.. IN MY FACE.. I ain't worrying about shit because personally, I have enough to worry about besides something that 'may or may not' happen.

As long as I have been alive, I've heard talk about Armageddon, the end of times, blah blah blah. It's a part of what drove me from the church. I don't believe any of it, and when our time comes, it comes. Will it end in 2012 just because the Mayans stopped calendar dating then? Sure, just like society was going to collapse because no one had the foresight to see the turn of the century coming up when we went computerized.
I think it's something else to keep the conspiracy theorists busy and talking and stirred up about something, anything.

If I spent all my time wondering about what was going to happen tomorrow, I wouldn't enjoy today. And since I have no way of knowing if I will cease to be at any given time, I plan to enjoy every minute I have been given by living in the PRESENT, and not worrying about 3 years from now, or even three days from now. I don't fear dying, haven't since I left the church and found something that made sense to me in regards to what happens to us after we cease to be. It will happen when it happens, and that's not something I have any control over.

It's good to agree to disagree. These predictions come from all kinds of sources, some questionable and some credible. Individually we must evaluate what we read and look at the source. Personally I think it will be a real bad situation. Even if it is not the end of civilization as we know it, there will be major tidal shifts and earthquakes from the magnetic influences of the planets alignment. If this will go as far as to shift the earths axis and poles they can only speculate. This has never happened before in recorded history so all we can do speculate. We know that the earths poles have shifted more than once in the past, so we must ask if this type of event is responsible for that.

I believe in God and that he has a plan for us all. If there is no God what are we but an evolution of bacteria that gained some intelligence and infested the planet.

As the time nears I think that our prison systems should make every effort to release inmates and let them be with their families. Even go as far as to start training inmates to use heavy equipment and create an army of rescue workers in trade for their early release.

I keep coming back to this thread because I am very interested in this subject and the recent things that Phil has posted.

Whether the world comes to an end or not in 2012, life is fleeting and any of us can be gone at any second of the day. I believe that "the end" (however it may be) is coming, but no one knows when. I think we should enjoy, live and be thankful for each day as it very well could be our last.

True the Mayans are gone. They did however predict the arrival of the Spanish with their Catholic priests who murdered them off (very brutally) and had most of their writings and buildings destroyed. The Spanish invaders destroyed a great civilization and people killing 70% of the population and enslaving the rest.
