The memo was up on the front counter. I guess it was the weekend of 7/10 that I picked it up. I mailed it to my mother in law so she'd have the info. (That was before we knew he was moving.)

The visiting hotline was updates today. (Thursday Septemer 03, 2009).

3A has normal visits with the exception of Bulldogs.

3B has NO VISITS.

I've never been so sad in my entire life. My husband is on B yard and in the 5 years that he has been at Corcoran, he has never not been allowed to visit. (With the exception of that Swine Flu issue). The whole yard is on shut down mode. Man. I wonder what is going on. His letters state that they were searching, and that they were on lockdown within the process. It must not be too good for this outcome.

It's going to be a long Labor day weekend for me as I had planned on staying the entire weekend at Corcoran. Guess I better cancel my room reservations. Man! Well, to all others who are able to visit and plan on going, have a good one and make it a safe trip. I'm not going to lie------I'm really feeling sorry for myself. (Not like me) What a baby!

Hi My name is Amani,
I am extremely new to this whole website thing; I found this website through a friend of mine, and im completely lost. I hope im posting or blogging or whatever you call this in the right place...

My husband is being transferred to Corcocan and I never been there before. Can someone please tell me how visiting works.
  • do i need to sleep in my car over night
  • is there appointment setting
  • if we dont need to sleep in the car, is there a line where I need to line up at and if so what time do people start lining up.
  • is there times when visiting is closed due to weather... What is the closest county is nearest and if so is there lodging and things near by?
  • what time is visiting and does the same rules apply to clothing like other prisons
  • any other information one can give me about visiting
  • once they get there, can they start getting packages (hes already been classified)
  • any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You and Hope I blogged this in this right area
Amani

Friday visits were recently taken away due to the state budget.

Visiting hours are Sat and Sun from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

His contact visits depend on his housing (versus shu) and if he is " in good status" (no write-ups that would suspend visits and so forth)

Making an appointment helps to make the wait during processing less lengthy. They are not a requirement for regular visits.

You have to make an appointment if he is in the shu or on a non-contact visit status.

Hello. Mine just got transferred here also. He is Level 1. How many children are you allowed to take with you on a visit? I live about 5 hours away. Are the dress codes really strict. Can I bring a bottle and blanket (at WVDC I couldnt). Are the guards and staff here nice and respectful to visitors? Thank you in advance for all help

It took me about 2 to 3 weeks to get approved, and he was the one that informed me, they didnt let me know, so hang in there! And as for lockdown, I have no clue, sorry.

Is there a sticky or something that I can refer to regarding what you can wear to visit, how many children you can have with you, what you can bring, etc...? Thank you.

Hi, wonbyjc!
Have you looked at the sticky at the top of this forum that says
"prison visiting information" or something along those lines?

Also, if you go to the Corcoran prison website, it has detailed info on there, too.
You can also call the visiting line...(800) 374-8474 or (559) 992-8800.

Hope that helps!

Default Visiting App

Hello all! Question. what do i do when my visitng app expires? Do we have to fill one out and wait AGAIN? I'm 3 months away from that and i just want to make sure, that way i won't have to wait months for an approval. Also, my hubby wants to see our daughter, but my in-law wants to take her, what do i do if she isn't on anyones visting app since she was born after any of us got approved. I appreciate anyones help!
