I am not sure if it is harder as you get older to lose weight, but I can say in my early 40's the body lets you know that you are not as young as you used to be. Man does it hurt sometimes after I finish exercising....the bones be creaking...lol!!!

I want to be in a weight loss group! I lost 40lbs last year, and then this year about 30 of it came back. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism a couple of months ago and I am now trying to get my meds on track but I'm still not totally right yet. I've had zero energy and with my work/school schedule, I am no longer moving around like I used to, so that's not helping either. My biggest problem is fast food though.. I love it so much and there have been times when I've eaten it for all three meals in the day. I need to focus mainly on getting rid of the fast food and starting to exercise more. Last year I was walking or jogging a mile each night and that made such a difference.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking the case will be here. I've never in the past had a problem losing the weight. It comes off pretty easily, actually. I just didn't make the changes to my eating habits and staying active in order to keep it off.

But now that I've hit my mid-forties (UUGGHHH!) I wonder if it'll come off like it used to. Um...probably not! lol

Wow, you dropped 40 pounds last year?!? That was excellent! Hopefully, even with the Hypothyroidism you can do it again. We have to really work on changing our lifestyles though so we can keep it off. I'm guilty of the fast food thing, too...soooo not good.

Congrats on the new miracle in your life!

Yeah, it does kind of sneak up on you. In my case, I knew I was gaining but it's been a rather slow progression. It seemed like all of a sudden...wow, when did that happen?!? LOL

Okay, ladies...I've been to the grocery store to get healthy foods back in my house. (My teenage son is hating this! LOL) I've bought a new scale and I'm ready whenever ya'll are!

I was thinking I'd start tomorrow with a clean slate. A weigh-in, measuring and then go from there. Do we want to post start weights, goal weights, etc? I will and I KNOW I have more to lose than any of you! Probably more than all of you combined!! LOL

Critter please consider me on board. I have a serious 60 lbs I would like to lose. I'm in my 40's. I feel like you do, I have so much to look forward to and don't want to shorten my life. Im motivated some days and will make it to the gym and not so much the others. I get ALOT of inspiration from Prisontalk though so it can't hurt! I real interested in doing the wii fit as well, hopes Santa brings one. Anyway it would be nice IMO to have a place I to check in. How are we going to go about this? Any challenges?

Welcome, Dusty's Girl!

Motivation...such an easy word to say and talk about but boy, sometimes next to impossible to actually accomplish...(smile)

I get the same from PTO, which is why I thought it was a natural to start one of these here. And I hope Santa brings you a Wii Fit, too! It's on my Christmas list and I've been a pretty good girl so hopefully, my kids will make sure Santa delivers...lol

As for how we're going about this...I have some ideas but would like input from you ladies (no men in this so far) as to what you want this little club to be. What will work the best for you? Do you want challenges? Weekly weigh-ins? Keeping track of inches, as well? Do we want to just work towards goals? Prizes for biggest loser in a period of time? Posting pictures on our profiles? What do YOU want this to be?

Excellent - consider yourself signed up! (smile)

What games did you have for your Wii? Was it the Wii Fit? My kids have a Wii but I think I'm going to take it back over for me... lol I saw a number of games at the store the other day, more than just Fit.

Does anyone do any particular exercise programs, like Walk with Leslie Sansone, Richard Simmon's DVD's, Billy and Tae Bo or anything along those lines? Suggestions? Any you liked or didn't like and why?

I was wondering if anyone does/has tried the stripper type exercise videos.. I have always thought about it, but have yet to try it out. Wouldn't want to bother if it didn't work or at least provide me with some real life usable material lol.

LOL...if nothing else, it should provide you some real-life usable material...

Actually, though, any kind of dance is marvelous exercise. I've been contemplating salsa dance lessons but I think that's a ways away. My man is a dancer and has agreed to do those with me. But in the meantime...hmmm...stripper videos might be interesting. (grin) I've also read reviews on the belly-dancing DVD's. I can't even imagine my big butt in my living room in front of the dogs and cats, shaking things that have no business shaking but...some of you might enjoy those!
