This is my first post on this site. My daughter arrived at FPC Lexington KY last Thursday. One week later, still no orientation, no commissary. Any info on this would be most appreciated.
I was in FPC Lexington form 200-2002. They are truly slow when it comes to getting things set up. Be patient, she will get her privelidges set up. If you want to, you can PM me.
Husband and brother-in-law are in SC in Texarkana. They have been there a little over 2 months and are settling in as best I imagine you can. You can PM if you have more specific questions.
I spent about 9 months at Gilmer Camp, in WV towards the end of my saga. It's spelled Gilmer, not Gilmore, but most people for some reason call it Gilmore. It's a satellite to the FCI up top, and it is also called FCI unit Q for those of you who send mail to that location well know.
The camp is located in Glenville, WV, and is big business to the town. A hotel was built just down the road from the prison to house visitation. No one housed at this prison seems to be a local.
The camp itself is very comfortable as prison camps go. Food is adequate and there is plenty to eat. The officers there are good, for the most part. In any location there are always those who appear to think that they are personally responsible for inflicting your punishment, and ensuring your rehabilitation, and Gilmer is no exception. There was always at least one of these characters at every facility I visited along my journey. I am not sure why, or why the administration accommodate them, tolerate them.
Anyone else from Gilmer, or with family there, send me a PM would be happy to chat with you.
My dear friend started serving a 37 month sentence at Victorville FPC in November 2006, however, she was recently approved to enter the RDAP program and is expected to be transferred to Dublin FPC in mid-March 2007 in order to begin the program in April 2007 (apparently the Victorville FPC doesn't offer it). Does anyone here on PT knew anything about Dublin FPC for women and the RDAP program there, particuarlily if there is currently a long wait to start the program. I'd also like to know if anyone has a friend or loved one serving time at the Dublin FPC for women.
