Please remember that everyone who visits (adults and children) need to have a application filed and approved reguardless of age.
IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS, which include mother, father, siblings, grandparents, and children, as well as step and adoptive mother, father, siblings, grandparents, and children may visit approximately ten (10) working days after we have received their applications. All other relatives and friends have to wait for the criminal records checks to be completed, a process that may take up to 6 weeks, before they can visit.
Family unification and support is important. If you parented a child with the prisoner, yet are UNMARRIED to them you will be considered immediate family upon submitting an application for you and your child. This application must include a copy of the birth certificate or other legal document that establishes you and the prisoner as co-parents.
When your application is approved or denied, we will send a clearance notice to the prisoner you want to visit. It is the prisoner's responsibility to notify you of your clearance and the times you may visit and call to make appointments. Clearance notification will not be given over the telephone!
you dont need to fill out an application for county jails. you do need to fill them out for maine state prison, mcc. i do know you dont need to fill them out for downeast correctional facility
Yes, and it needs to go to the prison where your loved one is at. All the addresses are on the second page of the application.
Also, if your loved one is transferred, you do NOT have to fill out a new one. Say you send it to Downeast, and is approved, and your loved one goes to the PreRelease Center in Hallowell, the approved visitor list goes with him.
If you're not immediate family, please send it in soon. If he's at Downeast now, send it there. You can't send it in to Hallowell until he's transferred there, and if it takes six weeks to be approved, that might be cutting it close on visiting.

are you sure? he told me that he's heard from everyone in there that they don't take applications there, all you need is your ID. the problem is, I was denied at MSP because i'm on probation for a misdemeanor. I will probably be denied again if that's the case. I sure hope not because I'll be effin po'd if I have to go the entire 2 years without seeing him once. i hate the system. i just hate it.
This is NOT the case. Christopher was at "THE FARM" and you had to provide your ID and it was checked against his approved visitors list. I would have your PO write a letter okaying your visits and it should be approved.
Good luck to you.
Sheila
