Congratulations and have a great first visit. A few general tips for visiting the NJ State prisons. First read and understand the visiting regulations.

Take an extra change of clothes, or two, in the car in case one of the COs objects to what you are wearing. Make sure you have the correct forms of photo identification with you, your passport for sure, and anything else the NJ DOC requires too. Different classes of prisoners have special visiting days/hours, and some might even require an appointment.

" Inmates in General Population are permitted to have both a Window Visit and a Contact Visit on the same day, but not from the same person. A maximum of sixty (60) inmates may receive Contact Visits at one time."

"Contact Visits for General Population Inmates are held on Saturdays and Sundays. There are also Contact Visit programs for inmates in the Management Control Unit and Window Visits for Protective Custody, Administrative Segregation (both male and female inmates) and management Control Unit inmates. Contact Visits are held on Friday evenings for men in the Management Control Unit."
