Default Storybook project

My sister will be spending some time in a Texas prison in the near future and I have been doing some research to find out all I can on what is offered to the inmates. Today I found the following website: www.tifa.org (Texas Inmates Families Association). They have a program called the Storybook Project and it is a program that makes it possible for inmates to audiotape themselves reading children’s books, and then the audiotape and a copy of the book is sent to their child by one of the volunteers. I believe this is currently being done at the Eastham Unit but I am not sure what other units.

Has anyone heard about this program or had someone they know participate in it? My sister has a 3 year old living in MN and I would like to find out some more information about this so she can get involved when she reports.

Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Since I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place I am going to post it in the family forum as well.

Thanks Sarah
