I voted more good time.
I wish the feds would let us have a trailer visit :(

leenallie 01-01-2005 10:07 PM

Since my man has life with a mandatory 25 I know he would say time off his sentence, he has been in since 1996. This is a tough question cause he may never get out, even after serving the 25, and we sure would like to consumate our marriage!!

I think all states should have conjugal visits, We are the ones being punished here along with our loved ones. I hope that conjugal visits are passed for the entire US. I'm in missouri and we do not have conjugal visits. It makes time alot harder for us only being able to give a brief kiss and hug. I think our men would do alot better in there with conjugal visits, it would give them something to be good for , and cut down on violence in prison. I understand we used to have conjugal visits in missouri a long time ago. why it was dis continued I don't know, but for us who have a long term sentenced offender, its very hard. Thanks for all your hard work. Dee Dee

I chose sentence reduction over EFV, however I believe that they are both equally important especially when the sentance is over 10 years.

babygirl350 01-02-2005 01:12 PM

For me, I say Sentence Reduction. We can have all of the visits and privacy when he comes home.

I just feel that since there are six states that allow these trailer visits, they all should allow it. Nothing wrong with it and in fact I think it helps keeping the family unit together.

Still have to vote for Sentence Reduction though.

Right now, only 6 states allow conjugal visits. Fed-X, am I right? And right now, pretty a few states allow good time up to 50% off the original sentence depending on the severity of the various charges. Since we already have those in some states, why are we complaining about wanting more laws on these issues? I just don't understand? If we want a law changed, then we have to pick ONE that's MORE important to us then we can take action on writing up a bill proposal and send it to the state legistature then they'll take consideration. So now, I already rolled up my sleeves and ready to brainstorm on an legal outline so I can write a proposal for ONE of these. So... tell me, people, which's more important to yoU???????????

I have an opinion on everything! I think that a sentence reduction would benefit most. However for some I think the conjugal visit would benefit more. For instance if someone is in for over 3 years they would need a conjugal visit especially if children are involved. Under 3 years time reduction. And if the inmate has no one to do a conjugal visit with, a furlough. I know that Virginia requires you to pull 85% of the time sentenced. Trustees get no extra time and there is no extra good time. You cant please everyone. I think the time thing would be best or heres an idea...have both and let the inmate choose which they want. We arent living in a town called "Perfect" tho are we?

angiesmom 01-03-2005 01:25 PM

I vote for sentence reduction. 85% is pretty harsh, especially if the sentence doesn't fit the crime.

LovingSoul4u2 01-04-2005 06:08 PM

I voted for the sentence reduction too. Although I would love to have conjugal visits with my husband, I want him home sooner. This 85% is truly too harsh. But it is BIG business for the states. I do think that those who have and must do such long sentences should be allowed conjugal visits.

I vote sentence reduction because after efv's he has to go back. At least with sentence reduction when he comes home he is there to stay.

EddysWife 01-08-2005 08:49 AM

I went with conjugal visits. In Minnesota, your good time is calculated at 66%, which as I understand it, is pretty good compared to many other non-parole states. Takes a bit of the sting out of having no parole board here I suppose. Eddy's got 5 1/2 years to go, 3 1/2 before he's eligible for work release, and EFV's would be very beneficial to all of us.

weasel101877 01-20-2005 12:38 PM

I feel that early release would be better for my man who is doing a 3-23 year sentence and has only done 2 1/2 years so far. Being home and having here with me and the kids sooner would benifit the kids and myself much more. I am sure that he might say different but like chikabonbon said they are the one's doing the time and it is easy for us to sit here and say what we feel is best.

seansgram 02-22-2005 04:43 PM

I chose time reduced, my grandson has 20 yrs, and he just got to CRC. We filed for an appeal but week-end visits will be good for his baby girl. (1YR) the family would choose the lesser time.

CougarsGrl4Ever 02-22-2005 08:55 PM

I would have loved to have voted for good time,,,but my husband doesn't have that option,,,sooooooooooooooooo the EFV would be UHHHHHHHHHHHHH GREAT!!!!!!!!

pam112856 02-22-2005 09:13 PM

sentence reduction ,he has waited 32 years to be with me .i dont want just one night every once in a wail

JazzyJFL 03-27-2005 05:42 PM

I voted sentence reduction. I want him home NOW!! Corrections is a big money making business. They aren't trying to get inmates released early. It's cheap slave labor.

quinn 06-04-2005 07:42 AM

I would chose the visits. Speaking for myself, I would love sentence reduction but it is more important to me to have him be a bigger part of his children's life while he's in. He has missed out on all the years with our son, who was born a month and a half after he went in and the teenage years of my oldest son. The visits aren't about sex, but about the bonding and family time that is needed for the children of inmates. As an adult I can deal with the separation but the children are the ones most affected by it. As I said shorter sentences would be great but for those who would receive 30 years, a shorter sentence would still be very long.

zigan04 07-07-2005 12:59 PM

The quicker my man gets out the better!

kayos-grl 07-07-2005 01:04 PM

As much as I would love for conjugal visits I would pick sentence reduction.

Wife C 07-07-2005 08:59 PM

Time Reduction
I have trailer visits with my husband now but I would give it up to have him home earlier.

piercednmad 07-13-2005 05:36 PM

My husband is serving a 17 year sentence at 85%, so i definately would say time reduction would be my choice.

SharonK 08-17-2005 04:53 PM

well in Texas, they already get "good time". Of course all it does is move your parole review date up, it doesn't guarantee they'll let you come home. Coy's only had one case in 2.5 years so he's getting plenty of good time credits, for all their worth.:( So it would be real nice to have family visits in Texas. Our visits are only 2 hours a week and it flies by!

babygirl254 08-25-2005 07:11 PM

I would have to say the time reduction

RoRiveter17 08-26-2005 11:14 AM

I voted for sentence reduction. We're not married so EFV do not apply to us. I just want him home as quick as possible.

amanspach 08-30-2005 05:28 AM

amanspach Colorado
I would have to say good time as well. :D

Ericalex 09-18-2005 03:06 PM

I voted for the EFV's but I would love to have the good time. My hubby is serving a long sentence for a drug conviction in Louisiana and is not eligible for their good time program because he has had past convictions for drug offenses. We currently get "picnic" visits every 90 days, but its not private and there is no intimacy allowed. Fortunately, these "picnic" visits give us family time but I would love to have a few hours alone with my husband.

You would think that in a state such as Louisiana, with the largest prison population in the country, that the legislators and lawmakers of that state would implement conjugal visits, or prison reform that would cut the rate of the prison population. But then again, it is big business, and more money is made off the backs of inmates than it is from regular citizens contributing to a state's economy. What a sad world we live in.
