Have you ever met a PTO member at a Visit?

Has anyone here ever met someone at a visit from PTO?
If you did, how did it come up ? etc.

I did once but it wasn't planned; it just happened. I went to visit Alonzo before he made parole and I wore a very original hand printed tee-shirt that I came home and described here in the Texas Forum him seeing and loving. Well a fellow PTO'er sent me a p.m. to let me know she had seen me there and we became fast friends that day and remained so for a year after both of our guys were released. I loved having a friend who knew my husband and what I was dealing with; it really bonded us. I met one PTO person once. We actually overlapped on a family visit--she was leaving, I was going in. We knew we had folks int he same prison, so we met at a nearby McDonalds for coffee. Lovely person--this reminded me to email her!

yep we kept eying each other for a while before one of us figured it out. We recognised each other from photos. It waas strange and yet funny.

I know a couple women that did...

PTO is such a large community,so I know that when i go on visits...
I figure theres at least 2 or 3 people in the visiting area that are on PTO .
But most of us are private about our LO's.

I met Renee and Lin and a young lady whose name I have forgotten. All were on visits at BelCI. Sometimes you bump into people when you mention you are going on or went on a visit on a particular day and its pretty cool to meet them in the lobby or visiting room.:)

I've met lots of PTOers, but only one in a visit and I think it was a little awkward for her. We had been talking online and I told my husband about her. He knew her man and he's actually the one who pointed them out to me. They were sitting right next to us and I wouldn't have even known because I'd never seen a picture of her. I ran into her later at the vending machines and introduced myself but because it wasn't planned, I think it freaked her out a little. Oops.

LOL@Lorraine similiar situation happened to me.
it was awkward for us at first, but we made the best of it.
I love hearing stories about this though..

Yeah Lorraine, thats how it was for me;the -ish totally freaked me out at first. I went to his unit for a visit wearing my new tee shirt, tight jeans and boots and when I came back the following day to report on our wonderful visit and how much he adored my "outfit" this PTO woman sends me a p.m. to say I just want to let you know I saw you at visitation Saturday and you looked so cute! She also said she goes almost every weekend so we were sure to see each other again. Well that sounded great except I had no friggin clue who SHE WAS.... About that same time her Dude told my Big Poppa that their wives knew each other so its possible we'd start riding down together and he was happy about it but I again, HAD NO IDEA WHO OR EVEN WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT! Two weeks later we met just outside of the gates where you check-in when you first drive up and we became good friends from that day on. She was sweet as honey and we shared some very touching moments together; like when TDC did a state wide every unit lockdown b/c of the Swine Flu and she drove down without calling or knowing and after being denied a visit she called me to stop me from going and I invited her to stop here in North Dallas on her way home in Denton and she did and ended up spending the weekend here. :boogie:
She was as crazy as I am, we both loved seafood and fried ANYTHING and we'd end up talking to each other instead of our hubby's at most of our visits. I don't think I could have stood all those months he did Chemo for the Colon Cancer without her. :soothe: I'm a Reg. Nurse so I knew what he was dealing with and at times she was my only "ear" and my only shoulder to lean on. Our men were paroled within days of each other over two years ago and she is no longer here and I have no way to contact her now but I really enjoyed the years she was my PTO online-off line Buddy! Marcia

I came close! Someone who I know from here that has become a friend was visiting her guy the same day I was and I was really excited to meet her. We had even planned on meeting in the bathroom just to talk for a minute but her guy was in 4B which is in another visiting area off the main area and I never saw her come out of the room :-( Guess I was too wrapped up in my visit. Once I get to looking in my guys eyes-- that's all she wrote :-)

I know what you mean Girlfriend...seeing my *bad-boy* :yay: just completely took over and nothing else mattered! Heck one day I waltzed out of visitation and walked all the way out to my car without stopping in the tiny room to get my keys or giving them back the little coin thingy! :o Guess I planned on *gliding* home on the WINGS OF LOVE! Great post! Marcia

I think these stories are great! We need support and no one understands better than other men/ women in our situation. My man is so private and used to trip about me being on here. He's gotten over it for the most part. He does know I have some real friends I've met on here that I text and talk to though! Love PrisonTalk!
