Parole board declines on paroles

Last year was 4% paroles

A friend of mine has been in over 30 years. 5 years ago he was told he would be home by Christmas and then he wasn't.

If it is primarily the 'worst of the worst' who remain in custody and are eligible for parole consideration, it stands to reason that rates would decline. Some offenders SHOULD never see the other side of a fence...

This is definitely scaring me because my man will be up for parole within the next 2 years in Ohio :(

ohio has one of the toughest parole boards in the United's almost guaranteed that an inmate (depending on their conviction of course) will be rejected their first time at the board. it's very, very sad and unfortunate.

it always seems the ones they grant parole turn around and recidivate in some of the most disturbing ways, while there is a ton of inmates who have actually rehabilitated and would do well in society but they don't have the chance.

@lovingkat good luck to your man..tell him to stay out of trouble as much as possible and complete as many programs as possible. also it won't hurt to reach out to his judge, and also offer letters of support from yourself and other people who know him in his community.

I have to disagree with the "worst of the worst" comment. My boyfriend (whom I've known for over 15 years) was charged with murder at the age of 17 but 23 years later he has never gotten a ticket for any act of violence nor is he a violent person. He committed a horrible crime that he is remorseful for everyday of his life. I don't think he doesn't deserve a 2nd chance at life HOWEVER when he will be given that chance scares me every day knowing it's up to the Ohio Parole Board.

A new study came out backing us up what we been saying for the last 20 years, google "parole study ten point reform plan" Ed Rhine who did study was ex-deputy director of the ODRC. this study is 69 pages, and covers victims at page 35...READ IT and highlight it. It cost $49 to make 5 copies. I tried to post it but can't smh
