My loved one is at BVCF also. Is yours in the minimum center or the regular prison? Do you know which unit he is in? Is there anything specific you want to know about it?

My son is at Crowley

Fiance is in Colorado Territorial. Waiting to be moved to permanent facility (restricted-minimum)

Sk8tebrd 03-12-2017 11:06 AM

Son is in CTCF in the transition unit- been there 1-1/2 weeks. Crazy they are on 23-hr lockdown. Insane if you're asking me but we all know- DOC will do what DOC wants to. Pray he gets moved soon!

saoirse1 03-12-2017 04:34 PM

It should be soon. They don't seem to keep them there for long. He was on the same lock down schedule at DRDC.

Sk8tebrd 03-12-2017 05:10 PM

I hope so. He was at DRDC for 3-weeks and was a porter so he wasn't on 23-hr lockdown. Just wish they'd move him soon. Thanks!

Phoenix, I'm brand new here so I'm not sure how any of this works. I noticed your son is a Crowley & my son just arrived there the other day. He's still getting oriented. How is your son doing there?

Advice

Hi and Welcome, Im still figuring it out too :) He is doing well has been good and was sent to the Incentive Unit there. The best advice you can give your son is read the rules carefully and stay to yourself show no fear, think before you do anything because you dont want a write up, apply for a job or do classes not sure what all they have yet, but for your sanity like mine was, he will be ok nobody really bothers you too much when you keep to yourself. Oh! and get a TV stay glued to it when needed or leisure there’s weights if he likes that. Basically stay calm when he calls a lot of letters and encouragement, dont show fear either just help him through this, stay positive. Thats what Ive been doing and it works for me, you will find your route, you know your son better than anybody can tell you. :) Good Luck Mama!

Anything else just ask :)

Thank you! My goal is to some day be able to offer support like this - I'm just not there yet, I'm pretty horrified with the whole thing right now. :/ I appreciate the support and advice very much.

I can imagine I was too for a long time.
how long is he in for if you don’t mind my asking mine is 18 yrs :/ but that will change for the better we’re hoping.

somom 09-24-2017 09:31 AM

My sons attorney said he'll probably be in for about 5 years. We're hoping that he'll be moved to a minimum security facility in 6 months but we've been told so many things it's just hard to know. I feel like everyone is the enemy right now & there is no one we can really trust.

saoirse1 09-24-2017 08:36 PM

Your feelings are very understandable. I think it is always important to remember that there are two different sides and the DOC employees are not your friends. Always be on guard with them. If you can make it to any of the constituent meetings sometimes you can get some questions answered.
The most important advice I can give is to remember to breathe. Sometimes that is difficult because of all of the fear, anger and the unknown.

DRDC in Denver - he’s there permanently due to medical issues.

My husband went to Bent County in May. I live in California and don't drive so my mom and I are trying to figure out how to get there and where to stay, as his mom is two and a half hours drive each way from there.

Hi my fiance Steven got transferred from sterling prison in Colorado to canon city prison in Colorado , does anyone know much about that prison

saoirse1 11-25-2018 08:52 PM

Hello. Do you know which facility in Canon City?

Melancholyholly 11-26-2018 03:37 AM

Hiya :-) Which one? Was your Fiance in super max at Sterling or gen pop? My fiancé was transferred from super max at Sterling to Colorado State Penitentiary in June. I visited CSP in October. They have a visitors centre in Cañon City where you check in and then they put you on a bus to the correct facility. The staff there are friendly and helpful.
