Hi, and welcome to PTO- There are actually 2 prisons in Susanville, High Desert State Prison (HDSP) and the California Correctional Center... and while Susanville is very close to the state line, it is in California, not Nevada.
Depending on which one he's at, check out the HDSP Guide or the CCC Guide.

For visiting, if you have not already done this, you'll need to have him send you a copy of form CDC-106, the Visitors Questionaire with his signature on the back of the form. You'll fill that out, send it to the visiting Sargeant and wait for it to be processed- average processing time is 4 to 6 weeks.
If you're already an approved visitor and he's eligible for contact visits, then you just need to go up and visit... unless they're on lockdown, in which case you'll need an appointment at High Desert and CCC, I think, cancels visits for lockdowns.
If your husband is in Reception he will not be able to call, but if he's mainlined, he should have phone privileges, but be patient, sometimes it can take a while since there are very few phones.
Again, Welcome!

Have you recieved any mail yet?
If it came from POBox 3030, Susanville CA, then he's at High Desert, if it's a different POBox, then he's at CCC.

If there's no mail yet, then call the records department at each facility and ask for his housing info... they'll either give you a yard and cell #, or tell you "We don't show any record of him being here".
The phone numbers are in the guides I linked in my previous post.
