My "deal" is supposed to include 3 years probation and 240 hours of community service. My wife is from Germany and I am greatly concerned about being able to travel during these next three years. We go over for Easter and Christmas, mostly. I was indicted over six months ago, but still have not been arraigned. I have left the country five times since indictment, and have always come back, etc.

Is it possible to arrange Int'l travel while on probation? Is this something I can specifically work into the plea?

Additionally, regarding Community Service, the only thing that comes to mind is picking up trash along side the highway, but surely there is something more. I like in a rural part of Kansas, so I don't know what is available around here or what they would want me to do, exactly. Does anyone have any experience with Federal community service?

You would need to get permission from your probation officer and from the judge for international travel.

That sounds like a good and fair sentence. More people should get probation and community service.
