For this weekend (Jan.22 & 23) Hispanics on A and B yard are in lockdown. One hour visits behind glass by appointment only. All others have regular contact visits.

Thank you LisaL. I just got a letter today from my boyfriend and he says they have know idea when they are letting them off. This is so aggravating!!!!!!

Another Update: Hispanics on B-Yard GYM only is off lockdown. You can visit without an appointment. All other hispanics on B-Yard are still on lockdown and still reguire an appointment to visit.

You call 1-800-374-8474, press 1, press 6, press 8; it will give the visiting info at the end of the recording. The information about B yard Gym I had received from my son when he called on 1-21-05, the recording still said B yard in lockdown. You may need to call the prison itself to verify the status of the Gym on B yard @ 760-921-3000, that is what I am planning on doing if the recording still says the same thing. Ohhhh man ladies!!!!! I've been calling that visiting office ALLLLLLLL day and haven't yet gotten any answer!!!!!! It just rings and rings!!!!!!!! Has anyone found anything out about the lockdown status??? My mans on A yard... and he's hispanic... anyone know if they're locked down or not???? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! I got a letter on Satuerday 1/29 the letter waws dated from the 25th. It said they let them off lockdown but they went back on that day(not suprizing) my boyfriend is hispanic and he is on the B yard. Right that is all i know so if anybody else has any info it would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you ... Also if i hear anything else i will be sure to infom everyone

Hi all, Just wondering... if the A yard is on lockdown for Hispanics... Does that mean no phones call for everyone? Anything will help because I haven't heard from my hubby?

Thanks SOOOO much Lisa, you're right... A yard hispanics were on lockdown this weekend :( !!!!!! I called friday to see if I would be able to visit and the CO at the watchtower told me that there was an incident with the A yard hispanics and they were on lockdown. It kinda worried me when he said there was an incident but in there... anything can happen at any time. Hopefully everything will be ok next weekend so we can get our visits because I miss my baby!!!!! :( Sunshine70, when they are on lockdown there are no phone calls or visits :( ... I've been waiting for my baby to call me and haven't heard from him :blah: .... stupid lockdown :blah: !!!!!!!! May God bless everyone :D

Here's the latest that I have heard. B-Yard Gym was off lockdown for about 8 hours and then there was a stabbing, which put them back into lockdown. It is unknown how long the lockdowns will last. There had already been prior incidents on A & B yard. It is only Hispanics. While they are in lockdown they are unable to make calls, go to store or receive packages. If you do not hear from your loved one by mail, they have probably run out of stamps, paper, etc. Since they are unable to go to store they are unable to obtain these items. Since they have been on lockdown essentially since the day after Christmas, they are not as willing to give up what they have to other inmates. I know that it is hard. You may want to go to the post office and buy stamped envelopes to mail to them and paper. Do not send too many at one time or it will come back to you. Some of you already know all or most of this and may already have had 1 hour visits. There are still some that don't know what is happening though, so I decided to give more info. I hope this helps. Here's the update! For 2/5 & 2/6: A, C, D, and minimum yard all have regular contact visit. For B yard, Hispanics 40 yrs of age and older regular contact visit, For Hispanics under the age of 40 1 hr behind glass, all others regular contact visit. Have a great visit for all of those who get to visit with their loved ones.

Another update, Hispanics on A yard went into lockdown again this morning. Sorry, that means first come first serve for 1 hr behind glass visits for this weekend for those families.
B-yard if all goes well, they will release 30 yrs and up next week from lockdown. The following week the others may follow. Keep your ears and eyes open, because the GYM could get off lockdown anytime in the next 2 weeks. I was informed that it wasn't just one stabbing, while they were off lockdown for those 8 hrs, but 3 stabbings.
I will do my best to keep you all informed as I get the information. If anyone has information before me, feel free to post it.
On the packages, if you have ordered a special order package, the prison will hold onto it for 30 days before it is sent back, unless they come off lockdown before then, then it will be delivered. If it is a quarterly package they will hold it for up to 5 days before they will send it back.

Gee wiz!! It sure seems like there is a lot of havoc going on around there, doesn't there?? For months there has been one or all yards on lockdown for something or another!! Of course, we are the poor folk that are left clueless cause you know that our men will never tell us over the phone or in letters. *sigh* The mysteries of prison! LOL

Lisa how do you get this Info? I know it is not off the 800 Number! :) Also, the deal with the packages, according to Article 43 inmates can have their packages put into their personal Property instead of it being sent back. You can check out Article 43 and Visits at:

Kathy I get the info from various sources, some from the 800#, some from my son, some from people who work there. As for the package, the info was given to me by my son and by Access. My son got the info from a guard cause he was concerned about getting his christmas package that he still has not received. I asked Access because I was concerned as well. My son called me today and B-Yard Gym is off lockdown as off last night. As for the link that you posted, it will not open for me, it says there are errors in the coding of it. I am not sure what personal property area there is for the inmates packages to be stored at while they are in lockdown. All of my sons property is with him and there are no package deliveries while on lockdown. Sorry, if I have given wrong information than I apologize. I never claimed to be an expert, only a parent who is trying to share information that I get as I get it. Because I was so lost in trying to get answers and I know that others feel the same way.

Im not familiar with the whole yard system or what not, but my husband is Armenian and in B yard. Does that mean everyone is on lockdown, or just hispanics? It is just hispanics on B-yard, and B-Gym went off lockdown last night, as long as they are still off lockdown. As well, as Hispanics over the age of 40, that went off lockdown last week. The only other race that I know of that is in lockdown at this time, is the whites on C-yard. The A and C yard lockdowns that happened over last weekend were posted on the door of the visiting area, that is how I learned of those. As an Armenian, I would think that he falls under other. So the only time that he would be affected is when you hear that the whole yard is in lockdown. I will call tomorrow to check the status for this coming weekend. Good Luck. Take Care and God Bless!

After reading about all the lockdowns and the riot in Tehachapi, I became concerned and so I called to see if they were still off lockdown. I am happy to report that they are. Yeah guys way to go! I am so glad that they all have regular contact visits. I think that the CO's have been working extra hard to keep things under control there. I have noticed that the CO's have been very nice and helpful lately. And when there was a fight that broke out last Saturday while I was there, they didn't put them in lockdown. Only the ones involved got taken away, which is how it should be. Happy visiting all!
