I received a letter today from my husband and he mentioned they get the quarterly package but can also receive a special package from access as well, does anyone know anything about this. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to PTO! I just read your intro. I haven't heard of "access" but have you checked out Walkenhorst?? You can send quaterly packages through them. They have a website and it gives you all of the information.

I have not heard of Walkenhorst. The access site is www.acesscatalog.com (http://www.acesscatalog.com) and it mentions a special purchase package and I found CMC in their listing but I probably need to call them to make sure it doesn't get confused with his quarterly package.

Cysreese, yes your husband is correct. My fiancee is also at CMC (East Facility) so I am very familiar with the way the run things there. You are allowed to order him 1 Quarterly Package through Access Catalog www.californiaqp.com every quarter (meaning 1 Quarterly Package every 3 months).

In addition to these Quarterly Packages you can also order him additional items like CD's, Cassette Tapes, Paperback Books, TV's, Radio's, Fans, etc. You can order these items through CMC approved vendors. Those vendors are Amazon.com, Access Catalog, Walkenhorst Catalog, Music By Mail, BarnesandNobles.com. There may be more approved vendors but right now those are the only ones that come to mind.

The good thing about CMC is unlike a lot of the other prisons at CMC the inmates do NOT have to send home a "special order slip" in order for you to purchase extra items for them. So basicially you can make these special purchases for him whenever you'd like. The only thing is there are certain limitations that apply. For example, I believe an inmate can not have more than 15 Cd's, ect...
