I just heard on the news that the Grapevine is now closed Northbound and Southbound. They anticipate it could be Tuesday before it is open completely again at the earliest.

I guess it is over the river and through the woods to Central California I go this weekend. Any other way from LA besides the 14 to the 58 to get to the 99?

Does anyone know how to get there taking the 14 to 58, or all the way around going on the 101.....HELP! I need to know what direction to take these fwys/highways and I need to know about approx. how many miles i'll be going on each road, and if they shut down during bad weather as well.

Any info is appreciated....

I have no idea what the extra mileage is, but you can take the 14 north to the 58 south to the 99 north and this will get you into Bakersfield. But remember, both the 14 & 58 can have snow!! Also, you can take either the 101 or the 126 ( off I5) to the 33 and then to the 166 east. This way will take you back to I5 north. You have to watch out for the 166. It's a 2 lane mountain road that EVERYONE drives too fast on. It's heavly used by Bakersfield's people to get to and from Pismo Beach ( you can take the 101 north and hit this hwy in SLO).

Ladies,

Sorry I'm not much help but if you haven't tried http://maps.yahoo.com/ see if you can get some answers, or maybe alternate routes, not sure if it gives alternate route info.
