I was wondering how long it took for your visiting form to be approved. I haven't been able to go and see my fiancee because my forms have not been approved yet. I sent them in September, and have been patiently waiting. Needless to say, I am running out of patience because I need to see my baby. I have called a few times and they tell me that there behind about 3 to 4 months. Did anybody have this problem, and if so, is there something else that I can do or someone else to talk to?

Hi mochamamee
That is way too long, the average is 45 days. I suggest you call the facility and ask for the visiting sergeant and find out what the deal is.
Here's the complaint process from visiting policies
Citizen's Complaint Process
If you have a problem concerning visiting, you should try to resolve it immediately. You should ask to speak with the Visiting Sergeant and or Visiting Lieutenant. Should the problem persist or you do not receive remedy, you may write the Warden with a description of the problem and what resolution you are requesting. You may write the Visiting Ombudsperson or the Director if you are complaining about an institutional policy and did not receive a satisfactory response. When you receive a written response from the Warden, please attach it to your letter to the Director. The Ombudsperson may be reached at (916)445-1748.
And here's the lead Ombudsman should you need to contact him.

Okay, that's what I thought. I didn't think that it should be taking so long, but I let it go because of thier excuse on not having somebody in the visiting office to process the application, but I will definitely be making a call to the visiting sergeant. Thank you!!!

It took about 4 months for me to get approved for visits at Ironwood. I don't know if this is the usual wait, but that's how long I waited. It was kinda frustrating because I just wanted to see my baby too, but just hang in there. They probably are backed up pretty bad. Sorry if this wasn't the news you were looking for :( !!!! I hope you get your visits approved VERY SOON!!!! :) May God bless you!!!

My husband is in Ironwood and it took 1 1/2 months for us to get approved. I called the visiting department and they told me on average it took about 2 months to get approved because they are short staffed. 4 months seems like an awful long time. They may have lost your application. Originally when my husband was in reception in Tehachapi they never got my application so I had to send it again.
I would call the visiting department and see if you can find anything out. Sometimes there mail gets backed up.
I wish you luck getting your visiting application approved.

I filled out the visitation form when my son was in reception at Delano. He was there for 3 months and we were approved the week that he was going to be moved to Ironwood. Of course then he was in processing at Ironwood, so it was another couple of weeks.

Well, I sent another one in, then I called and talked to the visiting sergeant who was really helpful and friendly. He assured me that they didn't lose my application, but indeed were behind a few months because of the recent budget cuts. They had lost some staff, and to my understanding they were not processing any apps. He told me that they have people doing them all day long now trying to get caught up. He took my name and told me that if I didn't hear anything in 2 weeks, to call him back and he will take care of it. Thanks for the support, I will let you guys know when I am approved!
