Hi Pita,
He could be there several months waiting for training. I think the list of names is something like twenty pages long. Then it takes about a month for the actual training and then up to another month to transfer them to a camp. They do have different level yards, depending where they are housed would depend on their ability to call. My husband is on the Calveras yard and can call everyday. They have to sign up for the phone and depending how many guys there are it can get hectic. Be patient you should receive a call from him soon! Good luck and you can PM me if there are any more questions. :)

Thanks for the info it was more than helpful. i did receive a letter from him yesterday he said it can take anywhere from 6-1 year to get put in a camp. but to be honest he is just happy to be out of receiveing in Donovan he hated that. He also told me it took them 2 straight days to get up there cause they had to stop off at every prison to drop people off!! Crazy. But he also said that if he getsa job he will be able to make more calls so he already put in that he wants one ASAP so he can call me sooner!! I love my baby he is the best. So when does your man get released from there?? how much longer does he have??

Pita...my ex is there at camp 11. I have visited many times. The guards there are awesome and very lenieant. Unfortunatley too lenieant as I am being threatened by my ex from there. He uses thier personal phones to call me..not collect..and send mail out illegally through the office...other than the fact the guards are not watchful, the place is nice, hot in the summer though..last year the avg temo was 110....exweus

My fiance is at camp 26, he calls everyday and they also have the fire training it takes anywhere from 6-1 year. They have a strict phone list schedule, if he can get on it everyday you can get the calls!

My friend is also in Jamestown. He said they won't give him a job ore fire training (other than what I call "landscape work", picking up cigarette butts in the yard) because they say 'he won't be here long enough.' It frustrates him and he says he's "on the list" for any other job and also on the list to do GED studies, but nothing seems to be moving forward.
He also says they have a state of emergency declared re: water shortage. Two-minute COLD showers every third day. Yikes! I can't imagine what those guys go through. My prayers go out to them daily! :)
