Anyone with someone in Susanville? Have you heard the new rules. They can't have paper, envelopes, prestamped envelopes and stamps sent to them after 2-01-05? My boyfriend over heard guards talking. Anyone else heard of this? Please let me know if so. I guess I'll need to start sending packages of them. Thanks STACY

I moved this to the "Other prisons" section of Ca. where I think you will get more answers.
I haven't heard of this but I don't have anyone in Susanville. If that is true I have to say I think that stinks!

This is the first time I've done this...so I hope it's okay. Yes, it's true after 2/1/05 they can no longer receive pre-stamped envelopes. They've given them until this date because originally it was 1/1/05 and there were some complaints about the short notice. You can send 20 envelopes at a time. I buy them at the post office and they're .45 cents a piece.

Can we send more than twenty envelopes in seperate manilla envelopes? say 100 stamped envelopes in five different manilla envelopes? So if we can't send them anymore envelopes, then where will they get them? My son just got there January 20th, that's why I am asking.

I have sent a pack of note book paper and 80 envelopes in 3 different manilla envelopes with not problem. and 80 stamps in a regular envelope. They have a store they can buy stuff from, it is just very expensive. We can send money to them, but, they take out 33% of it for their restitution. Stacy

This really stinks!!! What else will they take away from our inmates??? Will this happen at all the other prison as well? This, I believe will be another case for mental abuse. I realise that inmates are where they are because they may or may not have committed a crime, and the general public believes they shouldn't have any necssities ,but by taking every bit of civilized resources from them can be ruled a inhumain treatment. What could possibly be gained by taking writting materials away? I would think it would just cause more unrest within the prison community. This is one of the few things left for inmates to keep united with family, friends or to blow off excess steam. Sure would like to know where this rule came from.
